was thinking same...reports on his ability were very strongDoes anyone know if Sidney Gopre is still on the radar of our current staff?
Isn't he at Temple?was thinking same...reports on his ability were very strong
How crummy....if Gopre was eligible it would be big news...silly thread thatsWith his lack of grades i doubt he's a fit for the Ash culture.
There is a chance that he and JG will be here in 2017

We will see Gopre at RU next year. He has stayed the course and is doing exactly what he needs to do in order to get here. I'm rooting like hell for him.

You think we're only taking kids with excellent grades? Give me a break. A kid with marginal or even weak grades who works hard to improve and gets his grades up to the minimum acceptable level should be and will be accepted with open arms, just like at most programs. Some of these kids come from terrible neighborhoods with terrible schools and that shouldn't be held against them. In the right environment, some of them will shine. With his lack of grades i doubt he's a fit for the Ash culture.
How can you make such a generalization about a student athlete without knowing all the facts? With his lack of grades i doubt he's a fit for the Ash culture.
Has the current staff been in contact with him?
I'll find out what I can, but the Gopre situation goes beyond just our coaching staff.. Our athletic administration needs to see this through and be a champion for the kid. If we can show that as a university and as an athletic program that we will not give up on our inner city kids/recruits and we will not turn our back on them, it will go a long way towards connecting our cities with the state university.
RU needs to see this through. If we can make the Gopre situation a successful one, there is potential for a really strong pipeline to our inner city athletes. Gopre could solidify newark recruiting for the next decade.
The mods have repeatedly said do not expect Gopre to ever wear scarlet. I don't know if that is based on knowledge of this specific situation, or simply that it is extremely rare for a JUCO to go back to his school of original signing. Two years is a long time. One side or the other generally decides to move on.
If he buckled down and does show up i'll be his biggest fan and supporter...it will show me his determination and commitment to the program and not just a coach....And that was with the Flood staff and before the off field issues.
Sounds like the kind of guy we need here if true and he'll be better developed as a man/player...i'll be his biggest fan..We will see Gopre at RU next year. He has stayed the course and is doing exactly what he needs to do in order to get here. I'm rooting like hell for him.
