Heading out there between Xmas and New Years...need a reason to get away from visiting the in-laws for the holidays.

Have been a few times and I have stayed at the Mirage and Cosmo. Wondering what the rest of your prefer when heading out there.

Worth staying downtown?

Cosmo is my current favorite. Downtown is old school, so it really just depends what you are looking to get into and who you are with. Good luck out there!

You get what you pay for in regards to amenities, and whether you don't mind associating w/ the riffraff.

I stick to the Encore and the Rio. The Rio is a great location, I hate staying on the strip. The Encore is so far down the strip that it doesn't have all the traffic to deal with.

I usually just throw down a couple of extra G's and they let me crash out at The Ranch. Best wake up call service in town.

Stayed at the Cosmo back in Sep for the first time. Very nice hotel and casino and the location right in the middle of the strip can't be beat. I would probably stay somewhere else next time though just to try a different place, but I would recommend the Cosmo.

Palazzo is supposed to be excellent I hear.

Depends what your there for - just get the best rate - I like center strip and reasonable rates
Harrahs - Flamingo - Linq - Ballys
Would be my favorites
I've stayed at Mandalay - New York New York
Not in the room enough and I gamble all over the strip

Just get the cheapest out of these 3, OP

Bally’s is set back weird & not in ‘the flow’ of the rest of the CET train - only one I skip in central strip.

When I’m on a pure gambling trip it’s whichever of Linq/Harrahs/Flamingo is cheapest or (usually) comped.

-If wife is in tow, Venetian or Cosmo. Wynn is far too isoated for my tastes.

Stayed at all of them mentioned. Just got back and stayed at Aria, did not win anything but it is highly recommended for great food etc.. I have stayed at Encore and Wynn, liked it when it first opened. Played a lot and my buddy played almost 24 hours straight one night and lost some $, played all day next day and night. He got a dinner comp and I got a buffet comp. Terrible service.
Bellagio is always good.
Caesars- I was there for convention and it is always ok.
Most are about the same when you get down to it.

That’s true - it is set back a little.

You’ve been during conference tournament week, I think right? How were the crowds - dad’s being wanting to take a trip out there together and I think that’d be a great time to go. I’m sure I could google too, but I’d rather have an opinion of someone I “know”

Palazzo is best for the buck Imo. But it's also what you are going for.

One of my best times ever was at a decent hotel near the sky wheel. Totally college party hotel.

Can't recommend it enough, did it last year & looking like again this year -- I'm over Nashville for awhile.

Most CBB games of any weekend all year, without the apparent circus that is the 1st Rd out there. The crowds were no different than any other weekend, was able to find spots at any Sportsbook I wanted with no reservations, etc.

I love Fremont St and Old Vegas, but I don't know if I would want to stay down there. I go downtown for at least a night every time I make a trip to LV, but the strip has so much more to offer in the way of shows, restaurants, things to do, etc.

If you're just going to gamble all day and night, then I could see downtown working for a full stay. Tables are cheaper, slots pay better, etc.

Nice place...although would love it even more were it not right next to Caesars. Too much overflow from the palace masses.

Which just also happens to be one of the 3 places you recommended. [eyeroll]

You're such a clown.

Thanks for all the suggestions...we stayed at the Venetian. Though there is something about maybe staying downtown next time. Not sure what it is, but there is an attraction.

And weed is now legal...Yeah.

Hard for me to believe we haven’t been out there since 2007, hoping to change that later this year when the Cats play out there twice next season. I can’t imagne how much that place has changed in that time, Monte Carlo is no more? Ironically enought, NYNY was our most frequented place, Venetian being the nicest I’ve stayed in, wife loved the Bellagio when out there for her sister’s wedding.

- The Monte Carlo is now the Park MGM.

- I love gambling at The D on Fremont. Always have a lot of luck there and it's usually stocked with talent. I've never stayed there though.

Like my old finance professor used to say, "it depends."

If pools are closed it really doesn't matter where I stay as long as it's centrally located. I don't stay in the room long enough for it to matter.

If it's the summer months, I look for a nice pool to sweat out the night before.

Going to Vegas March 20-26 with some friends who all wanted to go during NCAA tourney so I figure it will be packed everywhere but have no clue since I have never been. We are staying at the MGM Grand hotel and haven't seen it mentioned in this thread. Has anyone ever stayed there? We will be doing some gambling but mostly watching games and betting on games. That Wednesday and following Monday when no games are going on will probably try to explore the town a little bit and maybe check out a show or something. Never been so have no idea what I'm getting myself into.

Stayed at Park MGM in last September. I thought it was pretty nice. They are doing $300+ million in renovations. Plus it's connected to the Aria by monorail. I loved the stay. Matter of fact, I just got Park MGM for late April for $58 a night (there is a $42 a night resort fee).

Wayne D up in this post apparently didn't like it. But he's sniffs farts at Circus Circus for $25 a night

March Madness was my favorite time to be out there, FB season a close 2nd. Had the good fortune to be at The Mack both nights that Van Horn hit game winners for Utah in their Conf. Tournament games.
