Amazing job getting so much out of his team and getting them this far in the SECT......having said that....look out below!....today could be very ugly.....

He has done a remarkable job in this tourney. And yes, today will get UGLY.
I think what Pearl has done is a great case study in how bad the rest of the coaching in the SEC is. Johnny Jones looked like a complete buffoon yesterday. Calls a timeout with 6 seconds left on the shot clock and somehow his team had no idea after the timeout that there were only 6 seconds left to shoot. The guy is just lost. Billy Kennedy's team looked just dreadful the other night. Andy Kennedy has a player foul a desperation 3 pointer at the end of teh game. Pearl is a very good coach, but he's looking even better than he really is based on these idiots that he's lining up against.

Yea he is a good snake oil salesman, just was on tv and is talking about his Bible study class and all, I hope he has changed but he lied to the NCAA while at Tennessee and a few days later lied again on national tv, before that he was involved in several unethical things at Iowa as an assistant and ask Erin Andrews about how she likes to interview him, yes he is a motivator but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, just saying.
Seriously??? Roy Williams and Dean Smith have committed academic fraud. Coach K gets players' families cushy jobs to get them to come to Duke. Boeheim has people writing papers for his players. And you want to crucify Pearl for lying about a BBQ?
I just never understand why Pearl was penalized the way that he was. He lied and committed some sins (for which he has apologized and owned), but his peers have done much much worse.
I respect your opinion and it remains to be seen if he could handle the job. But, I do remember a lot of the same discussion about Cal. Pearl does understand the magnitude of the UK job.Originally posted by CatBallou252:

the guy at LSU GAVE AWAY The game yesterday . Auburn did play well , but Pearl did didnt have anything to do with LSU going something like 22-45 from the line OR not fouling with 4 sec left . or not getting a shot off out of a TO with 6 seconds on the shot clock .
It is amazing how a coach can become popular for such a minor thing. Win a game against a garbage team in the first round, watch another team choke it away, and all of a sudden you got guys on here wanting him to lead the best program in college basketball history.

And he proceeded to get UT to the tourney every single year he was there (UT, not to be confused with UNC or Duke or Kansas), and he took UT to its first ever Elite 8).
At least tell the whole story if you're going to try to start presenting data as part of the conversation.
Getting to the tournament today is not that difficult. It is like getting a bowl game if you're in a power conference. He also, got knocked off by lower seeds multiple times. His team beat an overrated Ohio State team in the worst bracket of 2010. Sorry..not impressed.
Stucknbig10, you may not understand why Pearl was penalized, If lying and cheating doesn't merit penaltys what does,. Roy and Boeheim will get theirs. It takes a little time to investigate because the NCAA doesn't have subpeona power like a court of law. About the only thing Pearl ever did positive was turn someone else in for cheating.
