Well we got to win a few more games to go dancing, and if we do that, we'll be ranked. It'll take care of itself, and once the tournament starts no one cares anyways.
I think there's a lot to this take. When there's a lot of media hype around a team, it brings added pressures, added attention. Don't jinx a good thing
And I think the mistakes at the end of the game last night have something to do with the pressure these guys are facing to make the tourney again. It has to be a huge burden on them.
Who needs to be ranked at this point. Just want to see them play well and win some more games
I'll believe that when I hear one of the players or coaches say it. They were on the road, the crowd was going nuts and the opposition was a good team thing to make a desperate comeback. I don't think they lost concentration. Running out of gas maybe.
I feel lucky just to have watched it live on tv with all the Super Bowl treats already available.
You can just tell from the interviews with Chase and Boo how tough the last few years have been on them. They bring up the doubters but in a respectful way. They stuck it out while the so called stars bailed. This season has been such a pleasant surprise and those two are the main reason. Very happy for them, they took too much of the heat for the last 2 years. Their mental toughness is at a different level than what we had been seeing.
Great post and very true. Every one of them including the coach and his son mention immediately the adversity they’ve faced. It’s forged toughness in this team and created a very gritty identity that makes their defense first concept work so very well. It’s been fun to watch. None of us may have “expected” a win versus Purdue, but our strategy of always doubling the post and letting the guards potentially get open shots on the closeout was seemingly designed for a team like Purdue with a player of the year giant like Edey. And in all candor, our guards matched up very well with Purdue’s guards. I wasn’t overly impressed with them. And our defensive was designed to limit an Edey like player with immediate, aggressive double teams and still put pressure on the guards with a team well-practiced in close-outs around the arc. If you had to design a defense for Purdue, the one we’ve been practicing all year is it. And then, we threw in the three quarter court trap to give them less time to dump it into Edey and disrupt their half court offense. Brilliant!
