Are you a UK fan or a Cal fan? Calipari wore out his welcome. He was losing to St. Peter’s and Oakland, he hadn’t won a conference championship in 5 years, he hadn’t seen a final four in 10, was fighting with the fans, was talking to other schools, bro.

Cal beating UL after struggling with Winthrop and Samford just tells me he hasn’t changed.

Hey I want to win too but if God told me we would lose like this for three more years and that was the only way we could have gotten out from under John Vincent Calipari I would say HALLELUJAH.

Good for him he’s doing it there. Choice or inability, he wasn’t going to be doing it anymore here.

Two things can be true:

1. Cal had to go after the final 2-3 years.
2. Our program would be in shambles if it wasnt for his 2010 to 2019 run.

We can simultaneously say it was time for him to go while also owning him everything as the only coach to do anything here since Pitino.

It will be interesting to see what he does at Arkansas for a few years. I think 5th year seniors kind of tipped the scales away from the 1AD, but thats gone now. And hes seemingly already better than his early 2020's self.

Say what ya want, but Cal isn’t getting embarrassed like this. What a joke we have become.
Cal would still be here if he didn’t become a total ******** and think he was bigger than UK basketball. No one to blame but himself. I’d rather not win another game in my lifetime than to see that prick coaching us again. Go become a Hog….

He didn’t think that, you just said that because you’re so full of hatred for the man.

We won a championship, went to 4 Final Fours, and averaged an elite 8 every other year but he had to go. That’s how fake these brainwashed KSR sheep are.

I mean, the argument can certainly be made that, yes, he is bigger than Kentucky basketball as of now. And will be until Mitch is fired and we have a GM that can turn us around.

Face the facts, hes the only reason we arent Indiana right now (or worse honestly, Indiana at least had a Final four or two in the last 30 years, UK has ZERO without Cal).

As it turns out, Cal was the reason for our success, we needed him. He only needed us as a landing spot because he was in deep water at Memphis. But he was going to keep winning.

I think both things can be true at once. Cal had gotten stale here and needed to move on for the good of both sides. It appears Pope wasn’t the best hire to replace him though. This last month or so has been a disaster.
I bet Mitch never even called the Iowa State coach.

Well.. sorta. He did really fall hard those last few years. It was a divorce that had to happen. Fans got tired of his stubbornness and he got tired of the media and fans. It was never going to get fixed.

Sad it had to go down that way.

That’s true Cal never went 9-16 or lost in the NIT right?

This is a 9-16 type of team that will not make the tournament.. and thats WITH $22 million to spend. This team will get 5 or 6 more free wins with cupcakes that the 2020 roster didnt get. But yeah, this team is for sure worse.

It's so tiresome to read some of our fans pining for Calipari as if he had anything left in the tank. Keeping Cal wasn't the answer. (Did you watch his nine-win season or early tourney flameouts to to double-digit seeds?) It's akin to wishing you had stayed with your ex-wife (even though she was out of love with you) just because your new girlfriend isn't a goof fit. There are plenty of capable coaches out there who would have us in a better position than current.

Brother... that was the year of Covid... lots of shutdowns and restrictions... Jim Harbaugh had a losing season that year and bounced back and won a ******* Natty for Michigan a few years later.. Wtf are you talking about? Get it together and think clearly

For the millionth time, it’s not an either/or situation. The choice was not to either continue with Calipari or to have Mark Pope. The option that many of us wanted was to get rid of Cal and hire a coach who could turn things around. It’s really hard to have meaningful dialogue with people who are stuck in this mindset that the choices were only Calipari or Mark Pope.
