That’s hard to argue but it can still be true it was time to move on. The incompetence of Mitch does invalidate that.
I live in Indiana, went to IU (hate their sports) and watched them cling to Bob Knight when it was clear he was done. It divided the fan base. The AD was incompetent as hell and they have never recovered. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Knight he was a dominant coach that lost it. They held on too long, made bad decisions and 1987 was a long damn time ago.
I never wanted Cal here to begin with and still don't miss him, glad he is gone.
So you would be ok with UK not having hired Calipari and UK not winning a title and UK and UK not going to all the FF's under Cal? I don't care who the coach is if they are winning titles and going to FF's.
1. He had the hottest team in an America. TOURNAMENT CANCELED. GOOD YEAR.
2. He had a losing season in a year people were wearing mask and no fans were aloud in the stands. BAD YEAR.
3. He had a good enough season to earn a #2 seed. Lost to a team that beat 7 seed Michigan State, beat 3 seed Purdue, and lost in the Elite Eight. GOOD YEAR and was beat by a good team (Not A Good Name) in the tournament.
4. He had an AVERAGE YEAR and earned #6 seed. Lost to a good team that was the 3 seed that when to the Elite eight.
5. He had a good year that earned #3 seed and had a bad game (got out coached) losing to a 24 year old shooter that got hot and hit 10 threes. The same team lost in overtime in the second round. GOOD YEAR AND BAD TOURNAMENT GAME.

I’m very thankful for what Cal accomplished here. Honestly the rough start to this season has made me appreciate the run we had more. The end was rough especially in March, but we were on top of the basketball world for a while.
One of them wasn't a JV squad it was some uber drivers we made household names...Calipari does have a pretty solid squad at Arkansas this season, but Wagner, Brazile,Richmond and Knox are all 2-3 year players something that didn't happen at UK if they were here they would have left for a shot a NBA with maybe exception of Wagner and that's just the objective truth.

Dude, Cal was done here. He had become fat and lazy. Whether we hired the right guy to replace him or not remains to be seen, but I’m not sitting here daydreaming about the version of Cal that we had over the last few years here.

What part of my post was advocating Mark Pope? I said that Cal was done at UK. It was time for change. Having the Covid season and losing in the 1st round to St. Peter’s and Oakland. He had become thin skinned and antagonistic towards the fanbase, “I haven’t seen him.” Players leaving after a season to go play in Serbia. Players first blah blah blah. It was over.

You took a lot of time to make up excuses to say that during those 5 years Calipari sucked in the tournament or didn't make the tournament.
Those 5 years are unacceptable for a program like UK no matter how many excuses you come up with.

I did not say we didn't have 4 bad tournament years. What I said was he didn't have 5 bad years. Teams do not earn #2 and #3 seeds with bad years. You say he sucked 5 years in the tournament and out of the 5 years there were only 4 NCAA tournaments because of COVID. This proves you have an agenda. Cal haters are butt hurt because when he was belittling the fans in the media, you took it personally because you knew he was talking about you.
You just reinforce my belief that you are either a troll or a UK fan that doesn't understand UK basketball. UK teams that earn a #2 and #3 seed and then proceed to lose in the 1st round had a bad year. I don't care if a UK team goes undefeated during the regular season and then loses in the 1st round, that is a bad season. Screw the regular season, screw the SEC tournament. The only thing that matters to UK is NCAA tournament results. Ok lets leave out the season that the tourney was cancelled. Calipari still sucked balls the other 4 years. As a Hog fan, I think the consensus was it was definitely time for a change for Cal. His last few years at Kentucky, he seemed burnt out to a point. I know the diehards wanted a change too.

If a coach doesn't want to come here because they don't think they should be expected to make Final Fours and win titles then we don't need them. As for the season I will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Cal's last 5 years.....I won't. Hopefully we can get a coach that does well in the regular season and flames out in the 1st or 2nd round of the tourney, so you can be happy with a "great" season.
I honestly wanted Cal gone for health reasons and the best of both parties. The stress of coaching here would’ve put him in a nurse at home in one more year. He went to Ark and he seems to be healthier. He actually makes sense when he talks now. This is a really bad thread op he wasn’t ran off believe me he would’ve stayed just to give us a big f you but Ellen talked him into it.
He coached like dog **** his last 5 years and loss most of the fans with his condescending dont give a shot attitude. The last 5 years he failed with alot of 5 stars and NBA players. And no I wasnt A Cal hater.... I strongly support him until he gave up on the program.
