Well boys now the wait begins. I know many think he goes but who knows. I'm curious about Marshall not being here next year if that will have an effect. They seemed like very very good friends.

No hard feelings either way, he snagged a championship for us.

I still grin from ear to ear whenever I think about the 2nd half of the natty last year. Nothing but the best whatever he decides but I will be happier if he rolls one more year just to eat at all the haters one more year.

I think he goes. He should be a late 1st rounder at the worse which on a positive note could be playing for a contender. Maybe the Spurs. It looks like it may be a log jam for his position next year and that does not mean that he won't have a good year but I don't see him having the year he did this year. I don't think his stock is going to rise a lot next year. I'd go if I were him but it will be great to have him back just to irritate and aggravate unc fans . OFC

We won't know for a long time probably. He's gonna keep us waiting and anticipating for a while but I complete understand. This is a life changing decision Grayson is getting ready to make. Whatever decision he makes I completely support him 100%.

At minimum he will test the waters. He'd be foolish to not at least do that.

I'd love to see him stay but I have a hunch we've probably seen the last of him in a Duke uniform.

He showed how mentally tough he is this year. He never really "hit the wall". He carried this team throughout. I know a lot of players that carry a big load will usually burn out by Feb. but Grayson stayed tough till the end

I keep hearing about half of our fan base say he's coming back, yet I don't recall but one person state a reason. Personally I think with all the negative media b.s.
and with his stock being high that he declares. There also seems to be more valuable personnel in next year's draft. I'm afraid we've seen the last of him in a Duke uniform.

If he doesn't come back (I'm in complete agreement he is though) I don't think we win the ship next year. We could obviously but Id be a lot more confident with him here

Grayson has been on the 3-year plan all along. He definitely won't be here for the 2017-18 season.

Anyone know what he's studying?

I'm not sure of his major. I know he entered Duke credit-wise as almost a sophomore academically.

I'm about 60-40 that he goes, but I know graduating, winning and leaving a legacy are important to him. That's why I think he could come back. I don't really expect it, but I also don't think it would be a complete shock if he does.

I keep hearing about half of our fan base say he's coming back, yet I don't recall but one person state a reason.
I don't have any inside knowledge either way, but a few reasons he may stay include:

1) The way he consistently drops his head and bulls his way to the hoop works great ~90% of the time in college; it hasn't worked against teams with talented big men. Fortunately, most college teams do not have truly talented big men; but most NBA teams do. For that reason, I think, right now, he is much better suited to the college game, where he is a better athlete than most of the guys he goes up against. He won't be the better athlete against most NBA defenders he will face, and he has many areas of his game upon which he can still improve to round out his skill set.

2) Like Amile, Grayson has consistently been a scholar athlete (consistently all-academic ACC). Unlike some guys who may see Duke primarily as a stepping stone to the NBA. Grayson appears to be here for the academics as well as for basketball.

3) Watching him, I get the sense that he loves playing for Coach K and being part of the Duke team; and he has to love the idea of making another title run next year. While next year's team will be very talented, there is no way that he doesn't start and get as many minutes as he can handle as long as he's healthy.

4) The draft projections I have seen have him slotted in the 25-30 range. That doesn't offer much room for error in terms of potentially dropping to the second round and/or possibly never seeing major minutes in the NBA.

For those reasons, I am optimistic that he will stay; but I have no idea whether he might feel pressure to "grab the money" now while it's there. I would love to see him back next year.

I'm with you. We will be really good with or without him, but with him we are the team to beat.

Buddy stayed in school now is probably going lottery. I see similarities in their games, if Grayson to improves as much as he did last season, we could have a special/historic year, even in a deep Acc. Improvement doesn't mean he will score more, but maybe tighten efficiency and improve his handle.

Did anyone honestly know buddy outside of Norman? Grayson is a national guy. He will improve and his scoring will go down due to the team we have around him.

I don't remember Buddy at all! But we had a squad last year so I concentrated on us. I felt like Grayson was a volume shooter at some times this year. Next year with rest and a better supporting cast, he could average 18 or so points a game and be more efficient.

Who is the last 20+ ppg player to return to school? Here it was JJ and before that JWill. How about other schools?

Whether he's ready or not doesn't really matter. Most players aren't ready. Ingram is not ready for the NBA.

But, this is arguably his best shot at being a first round pick and that matters immensely. If you are in the first round you get a guaranteed deal for four years, optional 5th, which gives you a better chance to develop your game as well as financial security. This is arguably as high as his stock will be with new talent entering at Duke.

I think he will go. The other day I was 60/40 he'd go (earlier 90); but I'd say it's more like 80/20 he'll jump.

It's not fact in this case. I'm all with going back and forth with you on this, but now you think he's staying four years?

Well yea why not? A player like him 20 year ago wouldn't even be having this discussion. Idk if he'll stay 4 years but I wouldn't be surprised. I do 100% believe he'll be here 3 tho.. A lot of people do too
