Wow!! Have to admit I didnt see that coming.
That's what happens when you only play one half of football, not taking anything away from Grayson because they had the better game plan and executed it well in the first half. Galax was down 14-0 at halftime but made adjustments and out played them in the second half but it was to late and Grayson scored with a minute or so left to win the game. Im sure our Coach will catch some slack over this one but he has done one hell of a job here and he has my support.

Grayson County made it a point to control the clock first half and hold the ball until the end of the play clock before running plays.. Also ran it more than usual. On Defense Grayson County crowded the box and dared Galax to throw the ball which Galax could not do. Galax came out second half and ran Wildcat with Tucker and it could not be stopped and for some reason.. stopped doing it.. Had they continued doing it, I believe Galax would have won the game. The Grayson TD late in the 4th was a dagger though.. Good hard fought rivalry battle by both teams. Galax just is not as talented as usual IMO.. Small everywhere but they play hard and are strong which will always make them a hard team to beat. Grayson had the better athletes. I still think GW will beat Grayson and will be the team to represent Region C.

Next year, think Galax will be a toss up.. Tucker comes back.. but they need a change of pace back with speed, and vision that does not hesitate to plant and cut to daylight on those zone runs. but they really need to get bigger, and deeper at a lot of positions..

For Grayson.. Eli Gillespie could def be one of, if not the the best player in the region coming back if used correctly.. He is a baller.

They kinda already have the change of pace back in Lowe, he is small but probably the overall toughest kid on the team( heck he rides bull's about every week) they're not going to all of the sudden just a lot bigger but I'm sure will some will have growth spurts and they can and should get a lot stronger with the weight training. You don't just replace a young man like RJ Vaught but some one will have to step at linebacker and center and the other three offensive lineman they lose to graduation. We have some good underclassmen coming up that can be productive if they work hard this off-season. I think and hope this season will light a fire in some the underclassmen and they will work hard and might just be better than a lot think next year but time will tell.

I do not question any of the Galax player's toughness, at all. But vision is the biggest thing needed with RB depth.. see the crease, plant and go. Steven Peoples, and Dougie Peoples were amazing at it and always had home run potential. 50+ yard plays have decreased a lot over the last two years. I also do not see the stock of athletes coming up at Galax that most have been use to in previous years. If they could get the Gillespie kid to go to Galax, that could be a tough 1-2 combo with Tucker next year. I hear his dad is a coach at Galax, and it would be hard for anyone to stop. Would also provide a good receiving threat and a much needed DB.
