Wanted to start a thread for the man, the myth, the legend......Grayson Allen. It seems as if the collegiate basketball world, refs, and ESPN network are coming down hard on the kid, and IMO, it's uncalled for. Did he muck it up some this year and deliver a couple bad trips? Perhaps, but the play against FSU (after being smacked in the head) and the intentional against State are desperation by the critics.

I'd like to start a chain of things that you'll remember Grayson for, whether he leaves this year or next. For me, it was the fire he showed after the and-1 against Wisky last year. I thought Duke but essentially done, but he (and Tyus) carried Duke to a title. Glad Grayson is a Dukie; wouldn't want him on an opposing team!

Keep getting after it Grayson!

How about everytime he is on a fast break and jumps from so far away that it looks like he will botch the dunk, only to emphatically throw it down. Seriously, has he ever missed an attempted dunk? Pretty crazy for a smaller guy who tries to dunk A LOT!

Okafor on Grayson after the Wake Game.

"He kills," Okafor said of Allen in practice.

"Aggressive, freak athlete, strong guy," he added. "He had no fear when he's on the court."

He's shown every bit of that almost every game this season!

On a side note, his 5-5 from the FT line in the championship game showed me he has nerves and focus.

I will always remember Grayson diving for the loose ball against Wiscy right before blowing by Sam Dekker on 3 pt play. Pure fire!

Grayson is my favorite player, I teach my kids to play with his intensity & everyone outside of the Duke circle can kiss my behind.

If this kid stays there is no question in my mind his jersey will be hanging in the rafters at Cameron Indoor. My son is 9 and we live in Illinois, he loves Grayson. He catches heck from kids who see the crap Grayson gets from ESPN, since they only see what the mother ship wants them to see. He wrote a story about him at school and he will be devastated if he leaves after this year. All the people at ESPN and Duke haters are handjobs that wish they had half the talent he does. This Duke family from Illinois loves Duke basketball and Grayson Allen!

Was at a Duke game at Cameron and after the game, security made it clear Grayson did not want to be bothered as he was ill. My 8 year old daughter only wanted to see him, so naturally she was bummed. As they walked by, I yelled to him something like "hey Grayson can my daughter give you a high five?" Security yelled at me, but Grayson, who was in a light jog to get out, stopped and said its okay, went back and gave her a high 5. Then he hauled outta there; you could see he felt like crap. I thought that was cool, and she was ecstatic!

I love Grayson & what he does & gives every game is what you want in a Duke basketball player. Aside from a couple bad plays this year, he has been great and gives it his all every single play. I was at the game yesterday and the UNC fans cheered harder against Duke and particularly Grayson than they did for their own team. Every play or call that went in Grayson's favor they would boo, even the obvious calls. I'm still fired up about it and how they acted.

Make a copy of the letter and send it to the Duke athletic dept addressed to him

He's a different type of player. He truly cares about Duke and the fans and he always has. I remember when he was still in high school he would sign every autograph till nobody was asking after games. That's awesome to me. I've loved him since the day of his verbal because as a freshman he set the goal of "I'm going to Duke" and was laughed at but he made it. He's a Duke through and through and is living his dream. That's part of why I'm certain he stays. He's well in his way to becoming a legend at his dream school. Just because other people tell you you're ready to move on doesn't mean it's right in your heart.
Go Duke!
Go Grayson!

My first and only Duke jersey says allen and 3 on the back...

I'll remember yesterdays game, him coming out and that emotion. That's the kind of thing that make me love the kid so much. 1 of a kind who gives every bit inside of him.

Regardless if he leaves this summer or not. He will always be a Duke Legend in my mind.
I believe his will and his fight will allow him to play in the NBA for 12-15 years. Not to mention, he already has NBA-level athleticism.

I'm absolutely sick and tired of the way this kid is getting treated. I've said it a million times, he's a great kid, and is great in the classroom! It's ridiculous when all he did was commit a normal foul on beachem near the end of the game and everybody in the arena lit up with boos like he did something so horrible(of course there were a lot of ignorant tarhole fans there). Just preventing a normal fast break on Cat Barber was blown way out of proportion( once again by ignorant tarhole fans on THR) and ESPN and that ignoramus Mcdonugh. After all he is a 19 year old kid. To me, all the GROWN ADULTS who want to waste time out of their day to sit there and make a villain out of this poor kid (a 19 year old), are nothing but immature PUNKS!! Everybody turns a deaf ear when opposing players try to start crap with him I love Grayson! I want him to come back next year, and the year after that, but anti-Duke idiots might prevent him from doing that and that's ashame.

My wife told me to do the same thing I just don't want to bother him with that kind of stuff. I am sure he gets that kind of stuff all the time.

Maybe idk tho I just remember when K was mulling over LA one of the big things that made him stay was a letter one certain Duke student sent him.

Ive noticed the announce of the 2 ACCT games was very anti-Duke. Doris Burke tried to kind of call him on it, and usually I don;t like her very much. He thought the block/charge for Plumlees 3rd was a definite block. It was pretty close.

This is why I prefer to watch the ACC tournament on mute. I'm not sure there's a more annoying fanbase...except maybe Kentucky. With apologies to the decent UK fans that contribute here.

I wouldn't be afraid to do it. You might be surprised.

Grayson's trip against Louisville seemed like instinct. In a sense it's kind of cheap, but Grayson obviously wasn't trying to hurt the player. Against FSU I thought he got a little carried away. Players at Duke are always going to get grief from players and fans. Up until that point in the game, Grayson did exactly what he was supposed to do....beat them. No need for the theatrics, IMO. As for against State, I was more mad he committed a foolish foul that typically results in two shots and the ball. There was absolutely nothing dirty about it....it was just a boneheaded play to make at the time.

I love Grayson. Of course he's being unfairly vilified. In a sense I think he kind of likes the villain role and it makes him play with a little more of a chip on his shoulder. Like K said yesterday in his presser....Grayson is one of the truly great players in the country. Unfortunately, so many people are concentrating on a few negatives and completely ignoring him as a player. Regardless of whether Grayson is only a Duke player for another few weeks or few years, he established himself as one of my all-time favorites.

Just to add to this, it has been a trademark of our best players and teams to be honest. Last year it was Justise. I believe MP2 got it for a while. But even going as far back as Singler at times, Redick, and Laettner, and even some more "likeable" players. That chip can mean a world of difference.

For other teams it is competitive spirit. For us it's often labeled as something else.

In the end he will have the last laugh. He was a hero on a National Championship team and will get paid a lot of money to play basketball professionally. Keep smiling Mr. Allen.

Forget that, send it! The program takes these things seriously. They do care about their supporters.

I sent it out this morning. I did not tell my son as I don't want him to get false hope of something in return.
I personally did not send it wanting something in return I sent it to show that people from all over the country do support him.

If I could figure out how to post pictures on here I would post it for you guys to read. He is 9 and had to write a story on something important to him. When my wife asked him what he wanted to write about he quickly said Grayson Allen and Duke Basketball. He did his own research and pretty much put the story together himself.

I'd send it too. Years back while I was in school, a family friend sent a letter to Coach K. He is a veteran and told K how much he admired him attending West Point and how he loves the Duke Program. About a month later, he got a package in the mail. K sent him a letter back thanking my friend for his service and providing signed posters and other stuff. It was pretty amazing. My friend was floored.

After every big play whether it be a and 1 or huge play where the other team calls timeout. Grayson has this raw emotion scream where he just seems like he can't contain the energy and fuel inside him. I love that in him. He is probably my favorite Duke player to come through the program in a while. He plays with a reckless abandon which to me is awesome to watch

If Grayson comes back, he will have a legit shot at a second ring. If that were to happen, he'd be in a very elite group of Duke players.

If he does come back, he might not get as many shots, but I would love to see how efficient he could be with a little rest and other teams not being able to focus on him and beat him up so much. Right now, with Duke's lack of depth, opposing teams are playing very physical deliberately, provocatively, knowing Duke can't do the same back for fear of foul trouble.

Love Grayson...Think how far he came from early moments freshman campaign "deer in headlights" look during whistle blew thinking he was being subbed...

I have to say this old white man jumped when GA followed his corner miss against MSU w/a JAM!!!

That's right, he will be back to get his 2nd ring.
Just asking do u have definite info or just you wishing..IMO it would be in his best interest to go pro in a weak draft if he is in the first round.I find it hard to recommend that anyone pass up a guaranteed chance to become a millionaire in a profession that could end in a second with an injury

It's comical how everyone seems to know what Grayson's decision is going to be. I wonder if he even knows yet.

I've been pondering this Grayson Allen thing for a while now. !st of all Grays was wrong in tripping those two basketball players. But enough is enough. THR has their on special nickname for him and that name can go both ways. I can't ever remember so much back lash about a college basketball player barely 20 years old in all my years. He is no where near a villain or a thug. Perhaps he just picks a bad time to get his cheap shot in. I hope he stays 4 years and just irritates the crap out of all UNC nation. I ask a Heel fan would he have Grayson on this years Tar Heel team. He being your typical can't help it Tar Heel fan because it's his nature first said no because we don't have dirty players at UNC. ( Bless his heart. Remember he's a Tar Heel fan and it's his nature and he can't help it. ) but when I suggested that if Grayson was a Tar Heel UNC would probably win the N.C this year he nodded his head and said UNC could use a payer like that with his point shooting, slashing and going to the hoop so aggressively he was what was missing for those Heels. And I said to him if we had Brice Johnson we would probably win the NC this year because that's what kind of player we don't have right now. If Grayson played for UNC he would be looked at entirely different from all UNC fans and I don't care what THR thinks about that. It's true. There is not a program in the country that would not open their arms to Grayson. If Grayson decided today to transfer it would be totally insane recruiting for his services. When he does decide to go to the NBA I hope it's not Charlotte so he can still irritate all the UNC fans. Yeah I'm fired up. OFC
