Great 2nd half coaching! Work on the First

Hell of a job getting us in the game in the 2nd. Terrific plays out of time outs. Never quit and just kept climbing that mountain.

Maybe actually scrimmage pregame to get going. That first half was horrendous.

And on a personal opinion use some zones. They drove and scored off dribble penetration or we fouled.

Also I thought terrible refereeing down the stretch.

Yeah this is what I see too. It’s like they are on cruise control until they have to lock in and play. The problem is you can come back on teams like LSU, but it gets your pants blown off against the Gonzaga’s of the world.

I will never understand why he doesn’t coach that way at first. Why does it take getting down 20 before he does anything smart? It’s like we never prepare for anyone we face.

53-36 in second half. What if they played the entire game that way? Too much to ask? Great second half against Miss. st. After terrible first half, then this. Hopefully the shot by MM to win it will lift the morale and chemistry of the whole team moving forward. We can hope!

This opens up driving lanes with shooters on court- theory being having to defend entire court is the result instead of half the court with traffic

And the second half actually was just some players making plays they usually don’t and usually won’t make. Pope is not a good head coach. He breaks every Saban rule there is, he thinks therapy is the answer for everything, and he actually believes getting down early is irrelevant.

Why does he believe that?because he’s gaslighting. He knows he’s going to be down more than not so let’s try and convince everyone it doesn’t matter.

We literally won yesterday off of bs luck and that team is 0-4 in conference. This is about to get brutal. Get the guy out of that seat or we allow Barnhart’s yes please guy to take us down which is what Barnhart and the administration want. A fan fade that shows up for borderline tournament teams and is happy about it.

Everyone should be a sad sac when it comes to Mark Pope being the head coach at UK. It doesn’t make sense that anyone wants more of this. The guy cannot recruit and he’s below average as a coach. He will not ever receive a power 4 job when we cut him lose. Gary Parrish said it best, until UK admins realize Mark is not cut out for the job. Kentucky will not be Kentucky. Why would any UK fan support this trash? We will never see elite teams again. Why support that?

This staff had 3 days to prepare for lsu and we come out running the globetrotter weave……..then it takes the 1st half to finally say “this isn’t working so let’s try something else” I mean I could have told them that after the first 3 possessions. Agree. It seems like we do not match the energy level of the opponent at the start of the game. Need to come out with more fire... The start includes not working hard for shots resulting in poor shot quality and the opponent getting good looks because of the lack of energy on the defensive end.

This is the worst I’ve ever seen UK basketball and I’m an alumni who has been living and breathing UK basketball for 40 years. I don’t need anyone to tell me how this works, and if some keep pumping this crap I wish they’d just find another team. It’s hurting us the more we accept and f around with this garbage.

It was time for Calipari to go and I led that charge for a long time. He was the one who began the apathy, the acceptance of some in the fanbase of average - bad results. But hell, if you think Mark has done a good coaching job then you haven’t got a clue what we’re doing here. My father coached, I personally know collegiate coaches and some of them were early guard. We’ve been doing this for years. Mark is so bad it’s hard to understand how he made it to BYU and UK. Neither should have happened. He’s clueless.

Had nothing to do with it. There’s a few here that are just reaching for anything they can to continue their pursuit. And no men around the program that I know believe he’s a good coach. That team was 0-4 yesterday and we pulled luck bs out of our *** to win it. Mark didn’t do anything, he’s lost the team, players are sitting out, we’ve had mad team turmoil, and we’re looking at a bad seed / NIT. Players hit some shots yesterday they don’t normally hit, mark did nothing different. They won’t typically make those.

The team is the worst UK team in my lifetime and to me it’s worse than the 9 win covid team although they’ll win a few more. When you consider the circumstances, this is worse. Get the guy out or lose your program. Trying to find some positive sunshine in the middle of this is irrelevant.

This is the same group that went nuts over beating ST. Johns who is a pretty meh team. They’ll do this for beating 0-4 SEC teams. They’ll do it for beating any bottom feeder.

You know I used to just think this was simply a matter of teams getting up big on us and dropping their guard in the second half allowing us to comeback. It's just natural tendency for teams up big to take their foot off the pedal and for the team trailing to just keep fighting.

But this pattern has been happening for two seasons now. In the end we won a game by 1 point when sites like Kenpom had us losing by 1 point. So ultimately we did pretty much as expected. But the path to that result is just bizzare.

And like Pope had said in the pre game presser it's not as it it's at the beginning of the first. So it's not like they are coming out punchless most times. It's that last part of the 1st half mostly when things are going south.

Yeah I just don't know. I don't have any explanation for this.
