I have had this on my calendar for years. I am in path but may go to a max area on Lake Barkley. Great maps of each state with totality. Giant City State Park in Illinois has longest duration but near Hopkinsville (Kelly to Cerulean) is maximum eclipse and 0.2 seconds less.

Expect this to be biggest deal in W Ky since the lakes were built. Traverses 98 miles in Ky.

Paducah gets 2.20, Hoptown 2.40, Madisonville 1.47, Bowling Green about 1 minute. Lexington and Louisville get high 90's of sun blocked but no total eclipse.

"People from all over the world begin to converge on the United States. Except for people returning home, visiting family, or conducting business at what happens to be just exactly the right time in history, these will be people who make it a point to travel to wherever the moon's shadow is going to touch the earth, and position themselves in a spot carefully chosen - sometimes years in advance - to ensure they see the sight. "

It is a Monday. Max eclipse is 1:25 pm or so in Ky..earlier to west later to east.

Don't let it rain.

Looks like it covers more of South Carolina as a percentage than any other state. 251 miles long. Right through the heart. In the USA, it starts in Oregon and 1 hour and 33 minutes later leaves in South Carolina.

I booked a couple of hotel rooms in the area a few months back - they are planning for a major festival atmosphere in the area and are promising national acts, not to mention the loony tunes that should turn out, should be a heck of a show.

I'm about a mile or so away from the centerline in Gracey, outside of Hoptown. I've been thinking about renting the yard out.

I heard there have been offers for people not to plant. You are joking but you could do it.

I'm not joking. I've got 5 open acres behind me. Nothing grows on it but grass. It's just a matter of deciding if I want to deal with all of the b.s. and having to fix my yard afterwards because you gotta drive through it to get to the back.

BTW, 8/21/55 was the Kelly UFO supposed landing. Hoptown has little green man festival. Lots of potential. Some nut jobs will associate 55 with 17 and Grover can clean up.

I was stationed at Fort Campbell, but mainly partied in Clarksvegas way back when.

Dude! Let us assume your land management. I'm talking about one of the greatest parties known to civilized man. Beer, babes, and, uh, you know......

Supposedly, there was a big UFO event near Hoptown way back in the late 40s or early 50s. Can't remember. At any rate, we now have the technology.

As a side note, Clarksville is now bigger than Evansville. Kind of surprising.

Being born and raised Trigg Countian I'm gonna go ahead and let y'all know it'll be cloudy with sporadic rain. Enjoy the darker-than-usual clouds.

Btw, the official food of the eclipse is a double cheeseburger and bowl of chili from the Cadiz Ferrell's or it should be.
