about tackling. It talks about how Rugby players are much better tacklers, especially in space, and it has to do with technique and emphasis. Does UL have a Rugby team? Maybe the techniques can be taught to our guys. The article also says several CFB teams, including tOSU, are going to it, and that it tends to be safer. Rugby players do NOT wear helmets.

The force at point-of-contact is greater by factors of 2x+ in football compared with rugby according to Sports Science. Rugby players tend to slow down at point of contact and avoid leaving their feet to prevent devastation injuries.

In this Sports Science episode a NFL safety tackled a dummie with 2x the force of a much larger pro rugby player.

Football used to be played without pads like rugby, but obviously the players became to big and fast.

If football didn't include forward passing and blocking, but only running plays, then tackling would take the similar form to rugby. Football contact comes from all directions to all players almost every play. Many ball-carrier ink tackles don't come head on like rugby.

It was a fantastic article. They could fix all this in one season. Take the helmets off.
