I felt the same way about Hop Stoopid. I can understand someone liking it but it's not for me.

Eating at the Big River Grille tonight in Chattanooga. Impressive meal. They brew as well. Had an Oktoberfest. Decent. I generally prefer more punch/flavor from my German styles. But the Hefe was well done.

I’ve never had CBS from founders before but just FYI, if you’re up for spending $30 for a 750ml, they’re available today but will probably go fast. I picked up a bottle this morning from Cox’s smokers outlet.
I’ve already decided this beer will be a celebratory beer. One of those, once in a lifetime moments type of beers. Like tomorrow. :sunglasses:

Found a 2018 Sierra Nevada Narwhal. That is my favorite stout. Hadn’t seen any in a couple of years.

Founders Trigo. Available up in KY, OH, IL, etc. Light. Hoppy with some citrus. Nice character. Easy drinking.
Just bought bells expedition stout and ballast point high west victory at sea.
I tried the expedition stout first. Pretty good beer. Then I tried the ballast point highwest victory at sea about an hour later and it is fantastic. I don’t write the reviews on websites so I’ll spare you the taste description, but it is delicious! At 12%, the alcohol is very smooth and it’s not boozy at all. So be careful, but this is a damn good beer.
Shiner S'more. Interesting. Light-bodied. A brown ale with marshmallow accent. Improves as it warms.

Had a good seasonal ale , Troegs Mad Elf . And a fantastic double NE IPA from Michigan called Boss Tweed . great brew
Have not yet tried the others. I toured Spoetzl brewery in Shiner, Texas a few years back. They run a tight ship down there. Methodical processes. Texas A&M graduates work in the lab. Therefore, good execution process-wise, but it's your typical Shiner. Low ABV (5%). Overly sweet on the tongue. Very rich. The beer is actually a brown ale. You might try a single, if possible, rather than a full 6. This is an anniversary release (110), by the way.
Sounds good. I prefer a brown to a stout base for infused beer. I will definitely give it a try
Unveiled Brewing has a nice 5.6% ABV brown ale at Kroger that won't break the bank.
Where is this brewery located ? I assume its a NE IPA ?
Sixpoint brewery is located in Brooklyn, NY, Yes, New England IPA. This particular beer, itself, is likely contract-brewed in Memphis, TN.
I ask my local place to order it for me . hope they can get it .. The more hazy , and juicy/citrus and less dry hoppiness , the more I like it
Why are New England Ipa's so hard to find in bottles or cans? I've heard they don't keep fresh for long once canned but I'm not sure how accurate that is.
Usually, beer lasts much longer canned than bottled. The reason being UV rays.
Samuel Adams produces a fairly decent New England IPA canned. I plan on purchasing some more later today.
I was at a semi local brewery last weekend and 1 of the 3 brewmasters was working the bar ... he broke out a crowler of a NE IPA from 3-4 months ago . his comment was " should be better than I canned it " and he poured my a small glass , it was insanely good ( Sixth Sense in Jackson OH , best brewery I've ever been too)
Ask your local craft specialist if they can order you some MURK JUICE from Sixth Sense . Or any other NE Ipa from sixth .. they are the best .
Yeah, I liked the Sam's. They sell it locally at Kroger and serve it at the Cincy Tap Room but don't make it there as of yet. The Braxton version is also really good.
I’m headed to Asheville soon. Any recommendations on breweries there and in Greenville? Also I’m a novice on craft beer. Bourbon drinker trying to expand my world. What’s the natural progression from lagers going forward?
I think trying to find, and have, the right beer gets exhausting sometimes.
I’ve been hitting the Macro taps for about a month and it’s been nice. Good to remember where you started.
Drank a Founders Blushing Monk. 9.2abv I loved this beer. If you don’t like raspberry it’s not for you. If you do it’s freaking awesome.
Need to find this. Everything they make is good.
Never been but if I did, I'd try Wicked Weed or New Belgium then go from there.

All of them. lol. One thing I like about Asheville is you can go to the Mellow Mushroom and they have stuff from all the breweries and surrounding area. Most extensive list I’ve seen at any one place.
With the cold temps tonight I thought I'd go for something big and boozy, so I picked up a three Floyd's behemoth barleywine Google says it's 10.5 abv, but damn I'm half way through and I can feel it. This one isn't for me however, too hoop forward for a barleywine tastes like zombie dust mixed with old Nick. I love both separately but not in the same glass.
Barleywine beers are too sweet to be that dangerous to drink. Which is why I like them of course.
New Holland Hoptronix spanked my *** last night. Another DIPA at 9%. Pretty hoppy with a slight fruity finish.
Also went to Platform's soft opening in Cincy. Another refurbished sweet OTR spot. Had the Haze Jude NE IPA. Much lighter than the Hoptronix. Similar to the Braxton style.They have interesting brewery, food, beer subscription plans coming down the road.

Did anyone go to Cincy Beer fest? I went on Friday. Great time. 350 beers to choose from. I did get to try the smores beer from Shiner and I came away very impressed. I also loved a sour from 50 west called Jam out, Flamingos from Bell's, and Fugee a different take on a breakfast stout by FRETBOARD.
Other stuff I enjoyed
Ipas- dank juice from odd side, citra neipa from Braxton labs, raspberry milkshake ipa from streetside and tangerine space machine by new Holland
Stouts- chickow a double hazelnut from listerman, samoa stout from southern tier, Maverick from tafts ale house, man on the moo a milk stout from Darkness brewing and a bourbon barrel stout from good wood.
Sours or fruit beer- winter trip from Braxton, death by disco by platform, Bumble berry by fat heads, save ferris a sour by nine giant and the Reba a strawberry blonde by Fretboard.
Others- oatmeal raisin cookie by swine city and the defroster a winter warmer by grain works

Hopslam is out. Drank one on tap while walking around the liquor barn in BG. Then took a sixer home. World class if not the best DIPA made.
I’m a fan myself. I’ve actually seen hopslam at more places on tap than I remember before but it’s normally $9-10 a beer. I bought a six pack for $20 so I think I’ll just enjoy those 6. $10 is a little steep for a beer I already have at home.
