Agreed. Bought a growler of that a couple weeks ago after sampling it at Liquor Barn and it didn't last a day. It's awesome.

Has anyone tried Founders Backwoods Bastard? I've been tempted to pick up some the last few trips I've made to Liquor Barn. Also, what does a man have to do to get a six pack of Three Floyds Alpha King or Zombie Dust in Lexington?

On my list. Heard nothing but good things about this particular brew.

If you are ever tempted to pick any Stone Milk Stout let me stop you now. I'm a fan of many stouts, but this crap was a drain pour.

BACKWOODS BASTARD: Amazing brew. This was my initial offering to this thread (I think) Absolutely in my top5. Hint of bourbon barrel aging.

If icy cold, you could pound down 4.... Then fall over hammered. Stuff might have hints of barbiturates.

Just got back from store with greatest hits:

Nitro Stout
Omegagang Three Philosophers
Southern Tier Pumpking
SixPoint Global Warmer
Stone EnjoyBy 12-26-14

This bourbon barrel aging process has resulted in some really good beers, in my opinion, along with cute marketing. A local brewer here in AusTex is releasing this beer in bottles next week. Already available in kegs. Details here.

Picked up some Green Bullet today, a triple IPA from Green Flash - definitely recommend.

You pretty much can't go wrong with anything from Green Flash.

Shiner beer news:

Shiner is introducing a new style called "Haymaker", an Extra Pale Ale. Label received TABC approval a few months ago. My personal guess is the beer ships before the new year.

Shiner Birthday Beer, which coincides with the Spoetzl brewery 106th anniversary, should also release soon. The style is chocolate stout. It has received TABC approval for 12 oz, 22 oz bottles, large can and keg formats.

Austin- Nice. I'll be on the look out for those Shiners.

What was that Oyster beer you gave me? I forgot the name after I drank it and couldn't load it into the beer app.

Hand's down that Pretzel Stout was amazing. Probably the best beer I've had in awhile.

@Willy: Thanks, bro! So glad you enjoyed it. I hope to bring some other brews to FL in a few weeks.

The beer in question is Real Ale Brewer's Cut Oyster Stout. I had the third check-in. Stuff has only been in stores for little over a week now.

Motley Fool: Why Budweiser's Appeal to Hipsters is Doomed

. . . .There may be a greater obstacle than marketing for Budweiser to regain growth, however: taste. After all, the brand has an advertising budget in the range of $500 million. If young people aren't drinking it, it isn't because they haven't heard of it. According to Beer Advocate, in a crowd-sourced survey Budweiser rated a 57, or "awful," on a scale of 1 to 100. Historically, Budweiser's strength was never its taste though. Its success owes instead to clever marketing. Early on, the beer was never a favorite among local St. Louis drinkers, but became the first national brand as founder Adolphus Busch was the first to pasteurize, use refrigerated rail cars, and bottle on a large scale. He also plied bars into serving it by helping to pay licensing fees and rents.....
Interesting. No wonder AB-InBev is snapping up craft beer brewers.

not sure if you can still get it, but Lagunitas Brown Shugga is amazing. It's a very interesting ale with a bit of a sweet intro, but packs a strong finish and around a 9% abv.

1. "Craft Beer Uses Four Times as Much Barley As Corporate Brew". Remember that, Bud/Miller drinkers.

2. "5 U.S. Craft Beer Breweries With at Least Partial Overseas Ownership".

Founders Brewing
Grand Rapids, Mich.
30% Owned by: Mahou San Miguel, Madrid, Spain

Boulevard Brewing Company and Brewery Ommegang
Kansas City, Mo., and Cooperstown, N.Y.
Owned by: Duvel Moortgat Brewery, Breendonk, Belgium

Mendocino Brewing
Ukiah, Calif.
Owned by: UB Group in Bangalore, India

Trumer Pils
Berkeley, Calif.
Owned by: The Gambrinus Co., San Antonio, Texas, and Privatbrauerei Josef Sigl in Obertrum, Austria

Magic Hat and Pyramid
Burlington, Vt.; Seattle, Wash
Owned by: Florida Ice and Farm Co., Heredia, Costa Rica

Surprised by the stake Big Beer has in Founders. Aware of the others.

Hop Cat is coming to Lexington in August. Lucky bastages.

"Pending approval from state and local authorities, HopCat will open in August at 410 W. Short St. with up to 140 different craft beers on tap and seating for about 300, making it the Commonwealth's largest showcase of craft beer."

Officially Jealous of Lex now

I like SN but their Bigfoot Barleywine is eye opener.

To bad they do not distribute Yuengling in KY. For the price it's pretty good beer.

SN Bigfoot Barleywine = Great!

Unfortunately, no Yuengling beer distribution here in Texas. Drank some on draft last year at a bar near New Smyrna Beach, FL ($1.25/glass) and again while visiting relatives in east TN. Decent brew.

Sierra Nevada Brewing really does make good brew across the flavor profile not just one or two like some.
I noticed Fat Tire was in my local grocery store now, I have friends from Charlotte NC that always raved about it.
May have get a variety pack and give it a try.

I had a Cigar City Jai Alai this past weekend a buddy of mine came up with. For a world class rated IPA I was not that impressed. It was good , but just not that blown away by it. I think a lot of these unicorn beers that are hard to get, get overrated. i still want to try the Pliny and Heady Topper just to make sure they are overrated though.
