Couldn't have asked for a better effort from the team. Got really good shots most of the day, some went in, some didn't, and they fought and scrapped all the way to the very bitter end. My heart sank when Robinson hit that 3 to tie the game and if you watch the replay it was even a good closeout by Olah, our tallest defender. Would've liked a better shot at the other end of the court (and of course a UM miss thereafter) but that's how it goes.
As for the NIT, I think people on this board thinking NU doesn't have a shot to be in the field are dead wrong. We play in one of the top 3 premier conferences in America and won 8 games in conference and suffered no bad losses all year long. The Illinois win, and road W's over Nebraska and Penn State are actually decent wins, and we all know the Wisconsin win looks really good right now. The road win over Va Tech is what will give us a fighting chance. They lose tonight, I think we get a bid before they do. Also I think teams like Ga Tech and Kansas State (give me a break) are below us in the pecking order. Not sure where we stack up with Mississippi, probably dead even, and I think Stanford's swan dive at the end of the year puts us ahead of them too. I remember a few years ago when we made the NIT as the last team in with a record barely over .500, even though everyone on this board seemed to think we had no chance. DO NOT WRITE US OFF JUST YET. That's all I'm saying. Obviously it would help if all the remaining mid to low major conference winners do what they're supposed to and win their tourneys.
