The Ohio st and Okie st meets should be very telling. Having those early season matches will be nice to see what guys have progressed or regressed from all the teams not just ours.
Can we beat Spratley again? How does Ayala do against Jax? Did he close the gap against Davino? Can Caliendo make the adjustments to beat Lockett? Is BK still better than Feldman?
I feel like a lot of questions will be answered about the coaching in these meets.

Where are the "Nebraska, Oklahoma st, .... has passed us" people at?
Nebraska isn't passing Iowa. They had an insane tournament last March. They are right in the ISU tier. OSU is going to pass Iowa in the next couple of years and beating Nebraska won't change that. I think the concern is that Iowa is moving down from being the 2nd best program to more of a 4th-6th best program. That risk remains very real.

I guess I just don’t understand some of you guys. They beat a struggling Nebraska team and everything is all of a sudden ok?
The win while nice changes absolutely nothing in regards to the overall status of the program. Only a team full of wrestlers and coaches that have absolutely quit trying and don't care would not show up with better effort after last weeks embarrassment. It was a much better effort but we have seen this pattern play out many times only to end up in the same stale place. There needs to be consistent and lasting improvements in on the mat performance and results and in recruiting performance and results.

Yep, and unfortunately Caliendo and Lockett is the only spot I see rolling our way.

Dude, few people changed their mind on the big picture just because of this win. But it's okay to be happy about a nice win and compliment wrestlers (even give coaches some credit) for showing more fight and some improvement last night. Even with Angel's effort to take it from us, and no Peterson, Ferrari, or Endene, it really was kind of an *** whoopin on their turf. Nebraska is the #6 team in the country, not #25 or UR. It's ok to be happy today and say something nice.

people see what they want to see - am I happy we won, heck yes, we couldn't afford to lose last night, and yes it was good to see the boys rebound from the BTA they got from PSU, but it doesn't change my mind about the future of the program. the same issues I saw in how we've been wrestling for quite awhile, I saw last night - lack of setup of shots, no angles, everything was head on, even the shots that were successful, lack of attempts from certain wrestlers, no chain wrestling, no attempt at top wrestling. changes need to be made somewhere, this isn't a one match or one season issue. someone posted an article written by askren in 2014 about bringing in DT and the issues he highlighted with the style of wrestling then are still issues now - 12 years later - that's not saying bring in Askren or don't bring in Askren - its saying we ain't fixing things as a program, we keep hoping for a specific wrestler or two to fix things for us, that's stupid.

I really question if he is even an Iowa fan. Does he ever post anything other than digs about the Brands, Iowa wrestlers, and the program as a whole? If he is actually an Iowa fan, I feel bad for his dog 😉

Nebby isn't PSU and maybe that helped the team open up. Outside of heavy, everyone showed up or improved. I'd say the stall calls were BS Angel specials vs the 7 earned ones last week. Team morale is infectious and is built on positives.

Nobody has moved TnT off the hot seat.

Yea no. Good win but I need to see multiple AAs and at least 1 NCAA champ this year if TnT are going to stay.

Level of offense last night needs to be the BASELINE no matter who we're wrestling. Win or lose, go out swinging. That's Iowa wrestling.

Wtf. We're not even 20 hours removed from a dual win that a lot of people thought we were going to lose. In no way are TNT off the hot seat, but at least try to enjoy the fun moments for at least a day before you dive back into the sh*t.

Last night begs the question: why couldn’t they have wrestled like this versus Penn State? I don’t mean winning 8/10 matches. I mean being aggressive and taking shots.
Sometimes it isn't about you, it's about them. Iowa will get destroyed by Ohio State too.

If you don’t think Okie State has already passed us you’re dreaming. They have six freshmen in the top 10 and major recruits joining them next year. We’re already a mile behind. Good win but we can’t ignore the fact that we’ve been subpar and getting bitchslapped by PSU for the last three years.

It amazes me how some of you guys are all pumped after one good dual despite the fact that we’ve been subpar and getting bitchslapped by PSU for the last three years. Wake the hell up!
Agree. We are ranked ahead, neb had an awful night up down line up and block match was a big fortunate match for us. That could of easily been a loss. Neb looked awful, we looked as good as weve looked all yr yet still close especially minus a block fluke pin.
