What more could smc fans ask for we have two games that will decide sole possession of first place and sole possession of third. No 2 or 3 way ties this year, both games shape up to great games. Robbinsville at Murphy should be a close game can Robbinsvilles defense slow down Murray, can Murphy slow down the robbinsville offense? I think ultimately Robbinsville scores too much for the Murphy to keep up. Robbinsvilles proved they can score a lot all year on anyone and in recent weeks there D has tightened up. Then we have Swain at Hayesville, many would have thought it would be a Swain big win earlier in the year. Yet it seems like Swain is stumbling and Hayesville has big momentum after winning three straight. Hayesville was given a tough draw by playing Robbinsville and Murphy back to back. Yet they came through it beat a good Andrews team and are looking to cap off there best season in a decade. Many forget that Swain and Hayesville played a one score game last year when Hayesville had over half the team out with injury. I think if Hayesville can win the turnover battle I see them placing another building block in rebuilding their program, Hayesville by 3.

Max preps showed Lossiah had only 1 rush for -6 yds Friday. He was not at the Qb category either. Don’t know what to take from that. They could have been resting him especially after the Robbinsville game Monday. Could be a little banged up or just want to try someone else. If Hayesville stacks the line on D and dares them to throw they have a great chance.
Wow! I don’t believe anyone from Clay county has even commented on this thread till mine right now! You sound a little bitter about something PM me and I can get you the number to someone that can listen to your problems. First off yes Hayesville did have a weaker Non conference schedule than they have had in the past, but so what you still have to lineup and play. Hayesville played all of those without their big TE McTaggart and all but one of those games without starting running back Smith and defensive Cook. So you heard a couple of fans talking at a JV game about how good we were going to do this year and it caused you to be act like this? No one from Hayesville has predicted anything on these boards. We are happy for our kids that they are having a better year and they are building confidence throughout the season. How would a neutral field of made a difference in the Andrews game? Please don’t think that the officials favored them because most of them for some reason do not care for Hayesville. Hayesville did however fumble inside their own 20 twice (once on the 3 yd line) those scores would have put it away. Andrews played well enough to win but the blocked field goal at the end wasn’t from home field advantage it was from great hustle and athleticism. Anyway good luck to all SMC teams this week!

Don’t let GO SMC get to you train. If you look at his history of posts he is always bashing Hayesville. He’s probably a former coach who couldn’t get the job done! I think Hayesville has had a great season and to even be talking about them having a chance to finish 3rd is incredible. Hats off to the players and coaches! 7 wins is a great season no matter who you have on your schedule. Also heard the McTaggart kid was released. Any truth to that? That would be a huge weapon to get back for playoffs.
If its not bashing then it just was pointless to point out, Hayesville is happy to have a winning season for once and 2 win a couple conference games, if improving makes us so bad then im sorry, if your a murphy or robbinsville fan then congrats but your prob not bc their fans woudnt be bragging about a running clock vs hayesville, if your a swain fan im sorry you gave up after the murphy game dont be mad at us for it, and if your a andrews fan im sorry we blocked the FG but we did fumble inside the 5 to even give you a chance
From your comments you must have a very poor opinion of Cherokee, Rosman and Andrews.please share your breakdown of these teams. I have always believed a SMC victory was special. This is due to the respect for our opponents and the fact that often lower seeded schools (conference finishers in 4-7 ) have pulled first round wins against higher ranked teams. With a name like GoSMC I would expect you to be respectful of its members.
You may say you were not bashing Hayesville ( but you were) and you were also clearly bashing Andrews, Cherokee and Rosman.
Andrews, Cherokee, and Rosman, are not good football teams. Their records prove as much. Their fans, if being honest, would admit as much.

Where is there talk of that this is the first time anyone has mentioned Hayesville competing for anything. Yes you were talking down about Hayesville and it is perfectly fine. The boys will still line up and play the best they can and hopefully well enough to win. This was a preview of Friday’s upcoming games, not a bragging session to say we would beat Swain. The truth still remains if Hayesville pulls off the win they are 3rd no matter who they have played or those teams records!
It’s a number thing. Come on now. They are only 72 1A football teams in the state. The only consistent good team year in and year out with ADM under 400 is Robbinsville. Cherokee won a State Championship a couple of years ago with ADM of around 330. Look at the top 25 in the rankings and look at the numbers for each team. Only Robbinsville stands with numbers that low. Don’t throw this crap about not being good. Andrews, Cherokee, Hayesville and Rosman are about where they should be with the numbers each have.

Gc SMC , you are wrong. I believe that if you took one of these teams and placed them in an eastern conference or TJ's conference they would win several games. It is difficult to compete in the best conference in the state. Look how many times the SMC takes 1st round matchups. The truth is you had an attitude and got called on it.

Murphy has 466 actually... Hayesville has 395 and Robbinsville with 375... Murphy is dropping each year due to Tri County Early College. I believe I saw in a post earlier in the year where Robbinsville actually had around 40 or so players on their football team. You can tell by looking at the sidelines on videos that Robbinsville has more on the sidelines than Murphy this year.. I believe Murphy only had around 32 to 35 that dressed out. My senior year in 02, we had around 50 players. This is a going trend around the nation, not just in 1A. More parents aren't allowing their children to go try out due to the increasing number of concussions which is why Murphy this year went to the expensive helmets to help protect against (not prevent) the concussions. Great thing Coach Gentry is trying to do to help protect the players. Hopefully with the new helmets in place, they will have a bigger turn out in football next year with people dressing out. Mbdfan might could give more insight on this but a great thing none they less they are doing there to help protect those young men.
Yeah I just threw some numbers that were close but then the new ADM came out like 2 hours later. I didn’t go back and change but I was just trying to prove a point to someone who was talking down to the bottom of the SMC teams. Thank you though
