Nice comeback win against 1-3 Kansas with arguably Neal Brown’s best team in his 6 year tenure. Let’s all ponder that and what that says.

I’d say defense did more than Greene.
Those last two drives for Greene were huge. I stated earlier in the game that you need better play from a senior quarterback, and he stepped up when the handcuffs came off. There was a kick return late where I almost felt like that was the catalyst in momentum change in that game. I’m surprised we went the rest of the way without stepping on a rake, but it was noticeable.

Actually I think his best team was last year. This team has important parts return but you miss an All American center and a very good right guard.

The defense is worse than last years defense. Only game they lost that should have won was Pitt. The next 4 if we can go 1-3 would probably be good. This win makes it better for them to be 5-7 or 6-6.

The players are not the problem with this team. Never have been. The players did their thing and pulled through on a much needed win, but the coaching staff is a disgrace, and every single one of them need fired tomorrow despite the W.

The next 4 games will tell the story
The Big 12 has never been a top-heavy conference its strength has been in the middle. The next four games will be tough. We go to Stillwater in two weeks against a team we have had very little success against in our Big 12 days. Two of the three wins we have against them have been in Stillwater. I still would say they have the edge, but they have some question marks as well. The Iowa State game is at home. Iowa State looks very fundamentally sound. If it were on a neutral field, I would definitely give Iowa state the edge, but the home field advantage will keep it close. Then we have K State. I think we win this one. I have respect for K state and their coach, but their skill position players are very vanilla. If you would have asked me yesterday which Kansas team was the tougher out, I would have said K State. I don't believe that to be the case now. You have to remember Kansas has had three Pitt games in a row. When it comes to Arizona, I think were the better team. It won't be easy on the road but if it were a neutral field I think we would win. Arizona's defense is pretty bad. I think the three toughest games remaining are Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Texas Tech. I know most on here don't have Texas Tech on their radar, but they can really sling it around the yard. Those are the teams that can really hammer us, and T Tech is the one team on our schedule that best fits that mold.

Excellent analysis. Enjoyable to read versus the anti-Brown haters that are actually pissed we won with good decisions and execution at the end.

I think the next 4 will go like this

Oklahoma State will be a LOSS
Iowa State will be a LOSS
Kansas State will be a LOSS
Arizona will be a tossup

I could also be wrong. Looking at the rest of the schedule I could also see them losing 6 or 7 of the final 8 games. Probably won’t happen and there will be a couple surprises, but I doubt they reach .500 to finish the season.

Not sure why it’s “anti brown haters” just because some fans do not believe in Brown leading this program. I’ll be the first to admit I’m wrong if I’m wrong. I’ll also still root for the team every week.

Not sure why you hold K state in such High esteem they have good coaching but no talent. I think it's the easiest of the next four games. I think we will reach .500. I would say odds favor 2-2 over the next four.

Very few that post on this board are reasonable with their criticism. You are one of those with most of your posts and when I find your comments to be edgy, I have no doubt you are a true fan and I do enjoy your perspective on the MMB.

Actually I hope we’re both wrong and we go 4-0 the next 4 games

I believe it was the weather delay that won the game yesterday.

Before the delay, Kansas had all the momentum and morale was high on their side. Our side was still scratching their head, had very little energy, and was playing each play as "just hold on and hope".

After the delay, despite the TD, Kansas had lost all its mojo. Momentum turned, WVU started to believe in themselves, and instead of waiting for somebody to make a play decided to do it together.

Good come from behind victory against a team that should have beaten them. Exact replica of last week, except in reverse for the good guys this time.

Still, lots of healing needs to happen. It comes at a much needed time. To add, still a lot to get fixed in the next two weeks if there is going to be much hope for victories in the next 3 or 4.

Time will tell...

Some people think wanting a coaching change means you aren't a real fan 🙄

But the fact remains, Wvu deserves better than Brown and it's not even close. It's just the way it is. The longer people deny it the longer it takes to fix it.

I completely agree with you.

However, WVU can't just go through a coaching change for the sake of a coaching change. Personally, I'd rather not do what happened last time and just another Neal Brown-type from a mid-major and hope he's better than what Brown is.

Rather, I'd want a coach who has a proven track record in 3 areas: 1) Recruiting high end talent, 2) Puts together a proven staff of coaches who develop players for the next level, and 3) Has a solid record of winning in the past.

There are two things that can make WVU better almost overnight - a big name coach or a coach with a history of either NFL experience or putting players in the NFL.

In this day and time, WVU is a developmental program. Sucks to say, but its reality. Recruit and develop a stud - he's off to richer pastures in Georgia, Alabama, or Ohio. WVU can't compete with that unless we have a coach who can walk into a four star kid's living room, flash some rings or hardware or have a binder full of testimonials from the tons of kids he's put into the NFL. That's the kind of talent needed to win consistently and that talent only stays if there is a reason to - either NFL chances of national championship dreams.

That's the kind of coach WVU needs and has to get. Otherwise, it'll just be a Neal Brown redux.

We should fire all the players. Since they're suppose to be so great, according to you. They are .500 and should be ashamed. Bunch of clowns.

Just like anything, you pay for quality. If and when the day comes to replace Brown, they’re gonna have to pay up to get that quality coach. Not saying they can’t, they certainly can. It’s whether they have the same passion and commitment it takes to build a top shelf program. Someone recently posted WVU ranked 27th in financial donations to the athletics department. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $350 million. Amazingly, Penn State and other powers were below WVU. Oregon was far an away 1st at $950 million. All because of Phil Knight and Nike. While we can’t compete with that, we definitely can compete on the field. And we definitely should be competing for the B12 championship every year now that Oklahoma and Texas are gone. Not saying the B12 is weak at all, but we get similar recruits as the current schools in our conference. And we’re usually in the top mix. I like Neal Brown as a person. He’s a great role model for the kids. But the reality is, we’re not getting the results we need. Let’s let the guy finish the year and see what he can do. In my opinion, anything less than 7-5 this year should be his last season in Morgantown.

Wvu is always going to be a developmental program. We are never going to get recruiting classes full of High-level talent. Rich Rod said before the 2007 season that Wvu was still a developmental program and that was after 2 consecutive 10-win seasons.

Whether or not Wvu is 27th in financial donations to the athletic department isn't the issue. That money goes to all the sports. What Wvu needs are a group of boosters with the cash to fund and entire roster. You have a billionaire down in Miami that has essentially been bank rolling their football team. You have a team in Ohio State with a 20-million-dollar roster. These people aren't giving the money to the university they are giving it to the players directly through NIL Deals.

I agree with everything you said except, I don't really think he's a good role model for young men and he should already have been let go. I think he's weak and feckless and he makes excuses and doesn't take true accountability and that's not good leadership. I just don't see him as a leader figure at all actually. He's a nice guy but that's really not the main requirement to be the head football coach of a major college football team. He just doesn't naturally exude any type of leadership energy, even a little bit. He never has which is why I've been wanting to replace him for 3 years. I don't understand how people can overlook that the way they do. The kids kind of like him because he's not hard on them. They like him but they don't respect him. Big difference. Nothing about that dude stands out as a leader of men or even close to that actually. Tbh, I have never seen a coach at WVU in any sport display the weakness that Neil Brown displays. The longer he stays, the further it sinks the program. WVU football isn't a speck of what it used to be under this crap. The Neil Brown effect is setting WVU back for real.

I know that ruffles the feathers of certain fans pretty bad, but in the end, the people in my camp, us "WVU haters" will be right and the homers will be wrong. I didn't want it to turn out that way for brown and I was really excited when we hired him but even after 2 years it was enough to see that he was not a good leader. He just doesnt have "it" and its too obvious to overlook. In the end, Brown will be looked at as a major setback and will go down as the worst coach in modern WVU history. All we are doing by keeping him longer is wasting everyone's time. Just watch..... bookmark this post.

What I’m saying is, WVU should be able to compete with their peers. We know WVU isn’t Ohio State. However, there’s no reason they can’t compete with Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Arizona, Utah, Iowa State, etc. With Texas and Oklahoma gone, WVU has no excuses to not compete for the B12 championship every year. These are programs we compete with for recruits.

We are one game into a conference schedule without Oklahoma and Texas. Is it unreasonable to let the season play out before constantly bellyaching that we are not competing for a top level of the conference and just support the team, even the warts, until it becomes clear we are going to finish middle of the road in the conference? I know there are many reasons to not "trust the climb". I'm not trusting any BS climb. But I am aware no matter what any fan might feel or say, the school isn't going to act on any coaching decision until after the season. So, criticize individual decisions and whatever the coaches might do but calm it down a little as it pertains to team performance until what you are fearing actually comes to fruition.

We do compete with these schools. Look at our records against Iowa State and Kansas State. Not sure why you would mention Arizona we have a much better record than them in the last decade. The Oklahoma state series is lopsided, but they don't blow us out like Penn state does. Have you seen Arizona or K state play this year? I suspect not either of them are very good. Utah is the best in this conference, but they were blown out by Penn State in the Rose Bowl two years ago. The Big 12 conference isn't much better than it was last year if at all. This is the new normal for this conference. Most of the teams in this conference will struggle for relevance under this new system.

Fans do not make decisions on who the coach will be. Fans can either support the team, including the coach, as they play out a game or not. I had to stomach Gale Catlett for over 20 years once I turned on him like many of you have turned on Brown. But never did I ever say a negative thing about any of his teams or bellyache like the anti-Brown haters do on a constant basis. These players are trying their best and personally, I believe the coaches are as well. Now are they the best coaches or players the school can get? That is a debate and I won't participate in it.

I don't think the majority on here have really being paying attention to the rest of the conference. We have question marks but so does everyone else. You have Oklahoma State team that is currently 115th in the nation is rushing offense even though they brought back Ollie Gordon. You have a K State team that is 117th in passing offense. You have an Arizona team that is 97th in rushing defense. You have an Iowa state team which is 43rd in passing offense which is not bad but 91st in rushing offense which isn't good. Most of the games going forward will be like the last two weeks. We could lose them, but we could also win them. I think the two toughest games left are Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Both these teams rank high statistically in the passing game.

I haven't seen Iowa State, UCF or Texas Tech yet this year. The other teams on our schedule, we can compete and win. We could also lose as I will agree with you that there is a lot of parity in the conference this year and I believe even the conference champion this year is far behind many other teams in other conferences in talent throughout their roster. But it is football and things happen that causes wins and losses.

Iowa State is a typical field position type team. They are pretty solid but not specular in any one area. UCF is a great rushing team, but I like are chance stopping the run as opposed to the pass. Texas Tech is 11th in passing they can sling it all over the yard and these are the type of teams that make me nervous.

Actually you do participate in it by whining about the fans who don't like the coaches lol. Why is it so hard for you to just let people have their opinion? You literally cannot keep yourself from commenting on people who don't like Neil Brown and think he's a really bad coach. You call them bad fans because they want better for their team which literally makes no sense whatsoever. And then you outright lie, and say fans hate WVU and they're bashing the actual team. It's not even true. People just want a new coach. The team, the school, the fans, they all deserve better than what we have. You don't have to agree with that but everyone else is entitled to their opinion. Quit trying to be the message board police, or some kind of moral authority. It's stupid.

Neil Brown is a nice guy but a very poor leader. In the beginning here he talked about how he's going to produce a player led team and that's going to win championships. He's not any kind of leader so he's letting the players lead the team. If you want to know why there's so much inconsistency I don't think you have to look any further than that right there. Neil has chosen the modern, woke version of leadership because he's not the alpha leader type within himself, which is what you have to be to be a major college football coach. They should fire him mid-season to send a message that WVU is worth more than this. But Baker is not a football guy and he's a little softy as well so they'll probably keep this clown show around longer. 6 years wasted into this loser already and there's probably going to be at least two more. I hope not but they have extended this dude twice lol. I have never seen someone get rewarded for so much failure. Brown lol. This dude is wrecking the program, sadly.

Not defending Brown in any way, but this unfortunately is a trend in college athletics since NIL and the transfer portal placed all the power into the players hands. It is much more difficult to lead a team with discipline when the player can say “Screw you. I’m transferring”. Woke is a joke, but there’s no turning back now. Just another decay of society.

Oh yeah you're definitely right about that, I'm just specifically remembering when Brown announced that his whole plan was to be a player led team, which I was pretty open to it first because I had heard other coaches talking about it as well, like the guy at Michigan state. The problem is is they all failed lol. I can't remember seeing a team more undisciplined and unprepared than Neil Brown's teams the last 6 years. He seems way too soft and conservative imo. Dana left a lot to be desired but we were really a much better team under him. The bottom line is WVU deserves a good coach and is 100% worthy of being a perennial top 25 team. Brown isn't that guy at all.

Dana couldn't beat the teams in the conference that he needed to beat to win Big 12. Dana always fell apart at the end of season because he couldn't recruit. Dana only looked portal for a QB an WR. When you don't recruit high school players you tire quickly in the end. Brown stars poorly but does enough at the end to save his job. It's like He has 9 lives. It begs the question to administration do you want to stay a .500 team or become a competitive team that has a shot to win Big 12.

I cheer for WVU bad coach or not.
