Ever seen the guy in person without pads on? Doesn't look like a football player let alone an offensive tackle. Has a serious lack of muscle definition in the upper body. Maybe he was a gym rat but just didn't have the DNA to define muscle.
There's a difference between functional muscle and muscle for show. He didn't do it much this year, but earlier in his career he pushed around quite a few guys. And besides, the lower body strength is a lot more important for an offensive lineman than upper body.

I remember very well the change to the 4-3. Everyone had done it except good ole Nebraska, at least that was the line at the time. I don't remember any heat from it because frankly, we weren't stopping all that many schools, especially OU.
We always had very good defenses under Osborne. We were shutting down opponents quite regularly with the 5-2 defense.

I think they actually debuted the 4-3 during the Colorado game in 1992 and we stomped them that season. 1993 was the first full season running the 4-3.

It certainly didn't seem like a tough defense to implement. That defensive switch helped put Nebraska in to the title game 3 years in a row but back then they knew what they were after and why.

They ran it plenty in 1992, and definitely before the Colorado game, because it was their dime package. It became their base scheme starting in 1993.
