The whiny jerks who complained, “Oh he never got us to the next level,” can suck it. He did the absolute impossible. He turned the worst program to some level of competitiveness. No other coach in the 1A era has managed to do that. “Oh, but he left us in a larch.” Shut the hell up. He’s the only coach we haven’t had to shell out a fortune to buy up the remainder of his contract.

Really hard to understand the very small, but vocal GS haters. The guy was a micromanaging demon-exactly what we needed!

As we got some depth, he needed to evolve and didnt fully but was getting there.

To think he hasnt learned from the NFL and OSU and grown is illogical. If true, and Hobbs is the one standing in the way, then the choice must be made.

GS with the B10 to sell! Packed stadiums aginst oSU and Michigan--not usf and ville--That I would like to see!

“Greg, you turned around the worst program in college football... who’s to say you can’t do it again? ... welcome back.”

Totally agree with this. Greg is both the safest choice and the best choice. That can't be said for any other coach RU would be able to hire. The question is will the Hobbs ego repeat itself.

Used to work in Trenton during the Schiano years and had a view of the Governor's Helipad outside my office window. Loved seeing that red helicopter land and Schiano emerge in order to meet with Legislators.
No other coach at RU ever had that power and charisma. Hobbs knows this - the question is would his ego allow him to hire someone who would dominate the athletic program like Greg would??

Don’t think Hobbs wants to be 2nd fiddle to Schiano!

If this goes south like it looks, then Hobbs needs to follow Ash out the door. His bad decisions will have cost the university tens of millions of dollars. Plenty of ways to protect the university in a contract, and I'm not sure he even needed to extend Ash pursuant to the terms of that contract. The NCAA sanctions weren't a "material restriction on recruiting," (or something like that) as required for that extension provision to kick in. We'll see how good of an AD Hobbs can be, because he has a major problem and he'll need to work some magic.

Can we explain this to SCT1111. Not that difficult.
