gotta love this day. Cool for PA to show off. On my bucket list to make it there for this day.

Have we ever had a player on the Lions from there? No idea what level of football they play there. 250# ground-hogs on the OL???

Don Zufall from the 60s. Enrollment decline has hit the district hard. It was much larger back then.

Don't think so but PSU alum Brittany Baker was born in Punxsutawney and became a professional wrestler and later a dentist.

I shot 4 of his brethren last summer. Once they get under my sheds, a .22 shell is in their future!

Ned Ryerson was offered but the lure of the family insurance business was too hard to pass up. Joe was disappointed - he had Ryerson pegged at linebacker and he would have been a great back up to Onkotz before stepping into the starting role.

"Needlenose Ned"? "Ned the Head"? Case Western High? He did the whistling belly-button trick at the high school talent show? He got the shingles real bad senior year, almost didn't graduate? He dated my sister Mary Pat a couple times until I told him not to anymore?

Can't think of one. Maybe DuBois?

We grabbed a half kicked keg out of the Frat cooler at around 3am and and drove to Punxy one year. We weren't the only ones. Good time.

Groundhogs are basically oversized ground squirrels. They’re called Marmots in the Western US because that is the root word of their genus (Marmota).

In the wild, they’re not particularly friendly especially as they grow older and more emboldened in their habitat.

There was one who lived in a drainage culvert and would emerge aggressively every morning as we walked by with our Golden Retriever.

After 3-4 days of this nonsense a simple spritz of bear spray solved the problem.

Waking up on opening day for 6 years with Cliffy at QB seemed like Groundhog Day, the movie.

I thought that Ryerson was a no-star game manger QB who was stationary in the pocket. I can see the point as we want to move QB to LB

That was his brother Ed Ryerson. The kid ended up getting a job with PennDot -designing potholes. If you have driven around Pa you see all the good work he has done.

No, you mean Ed and Ned’s double first cousin Ted Ryerson, CEO of Ryseron Asphalt.

Zufall is the only one I remember going to PSU but he never made it to the top of the depth chart. There were other players, esp in the 60's who went D1 but to Pitt, Syracuse, Mich State, etc. My soph year JoePa spoke at our football banquet because he was recruiting our QB (Mickey Depp) but he went to Pitt and started there for 3 years as a CB.

OK. I was simply answering the original question of former Chucks playing at Penn State and wasn't considering the depth chart. IIRC from reading the media guide, Zufall was a letter winner. Nothing wrong with that.

Good to hear. All I knew was that he never started. He was a heck of a player at Punxy.
