I don’t really know much about this kid from high school to PSU. Is he a pocket passer or dual threat? Does he have a good arm? Last time we had an unexpected QB change it was mid game versus Iowa, and it did not go well. With all the external chatter, I hope the staff is still able to prepare him for what he will face .

Did he look like a dual threat on his play Saturday? lol

With free agency a team can go out and sign a quarterback from anywhere. This is the time for Grunkemeyer to show he has the talent to be the quarterback for the forseeable future. If he does not impress they can bring someone with a proven record in to replace him.
Yeah I’m with you.
I think one of the most important qualifications for the next coach is willingness to use the portal.

I thought Grunk was from the same area of Ohio as Drew and also shared the same QB coach growing up though they attended different high schools.

I guess we are just miserable the day after the bottom fell out. There is nothing at all deficient with Grunk’s height and build. Dillon Gabriel is significantly smaller and was wildly successful in college. Bo Nix is roughly the same height and build and succeeded in college and currently in the NFL. There are many more examples. Can Grunk complete passes under pressure? Can he get it downfield? Those are my concerns, not his height.

Not quite. Grunk graduated from a Central Ohio HS (Olentangy). Drew is from Medina, which is more of a Cleveland suburb. About 1.5-2 hrs drive apart.

Yeah, his “play.” Not as in “overall play” but literally a single snap. C’mon dude. We’re talking a sample size of ONE play here in a very high-pressure situation and it was a need to scramble when he had no protection.

With so many other things out there to legitimately complain and be sarcastic about, surely we can cut this young man some slack for a while as he attempts to step into a really tough situation.

Oh absolutely agree. But Grunk is a pocket passer ala Drew.

We’ll see what he has got. Tough spot.

I lived in the Olentangy school district for 18 years. Had season tickets to the original high school, Olentangy high, before they built the second high school, Olentangy Liberty, from which my kids graduated. Watched both high schools play over the years (Liberty won the state championship last year) and it was quality high school football. However, I don't know anything about how Grunk played or performed, but it was against good competition. Whether this translates into quality play at the higher level Div 1 level, who knows.

I noticed your comment about Drew's injury last night and noticed his swollen ankle. Did you or anyone notice the NW
player apply forearm pressure on Drew's upper ankle during the end of the play, totally unnecessary.

He’s big enough. Can he read a defense and work through his progressions and not be afraid to pull the trigger? If yes, he’ll be fine.
