Guess Matt Jones’ Salary

Like others have pointed out, all state government employee salaries are available. So are state contracts. If you want to know what something cost you can just do an open records request. This is how the newspapers get their info. The State Journal has reporters pulling records every day, and they get tips and check them out constantly. It is vital to keeping crony politics from ripping you off.

I don't think debating this is a left/right argument at all. The real point is that it's an issue of remembering who works for who. If you don't want your salary being public knowledge then don't coach at a public university.

As for Matt, he's come a long way since the early days of KSR so I hope he's doing well.

Hosting a TV show- 30k maybe
Nationally syndicated radio show- 70k
Website-Idk

Media is not as profitable as some of you think, this coming from someone who is in the media.

On second thought, I'll actually say he makes more than 70k for the radio but doubt he makes 30k for the TV show.

Local news people don't make jack ish.

Why would he not make more than $150K per year? If he was making so little, he'd probably be practicing law. I'd hazard to guess he makes, at the very least, $300K per year.

Considering he co-owns the television show, website, and radio show, I'd say he is doing fine. He probably makes a nice little bit of change off of licensed paraphernalia alone.

Matt might be a puss, but what he makes is his own damn business. Folks starting a new business in this competitive environment can easily lose every dime they invest. Not like going to work for a public supported entity.

Have no idea on the figures above but he has been making over $150,000 for years.

I mean, as a business owner, he's got to be loving the Donald's tax cut.

As a small business owner, no one is quiet sure yet what to make of the new tax bill...lots of confusion still exists.

At first blush, Matt Jones the entertainer is not able to enjoy the 20% pass through tax savings as the profession of entertainer is not a favored profession in Section 199A.

Clay Travis sold his blog site a few years ago for millions, millions. It was a deal that Fox or someone bought, same way with the guy that talks NBA, had his own show, Bill Simmons the Celtics fan. He owns this site, it is featured on Iheart and other locations, the local stuff means nothing. Iheard a few years ago said for a time period he was number one show, podcast or ran top 5-10. A lot of money and the money is paid by Iheart, local stuff is chicken feed.

If you are a conglomerate, why start a new business when you can merely acquire one that is already established. Individuals like Clay Travis and Matt Jones simply build up a base and then, if they so choose, sell off for a massive profit.

I thought there was something about it on one of the shows a while back. Something like $750K - $1M. If he was not making serious coin doing this, he would be practicing law. Him giving up Law should tell you all you need to know about his income. Oh, and lots of haters in here. I do not get it ? I enjoy seeing someone doing good.

I had a choice after undergrad to go to Law school or become a journalist. Knowing that I would take a huge hit in terms of earning potential, I still became a journalist.

I would imagine Matt would sacrifice money to do something involving his passion, just a hunch.

I agree, but i would bet even he did not think KSR would go as far as it has and open new doors for him. Or, maybe he did and had the vision all along. Whatever the case, he has done very well for himself, and is a really good platform for UK sports. I do not listen to the show very often as work gets in the way, but it is very well done and not to be taken 100% at face value. Not being serious all the time is actually what makes it work.

On a related note, I laugh at all of those sources that purport to reveal the net worth of various celebrities. There is no way of knowing someone's net worth unless that person reveals it. You can make a guess but it's a very uneducated guess. Nobody knows the person's expenses, expenditures, investments, etc.

I lol'd when it was reported chester from linkin park was worth 30 million, yea, sure.

30 million during his breakout year maybe.

Have you ever worked in local television?

If your answer is no, then you have far less experience and knowledge about what those people make than I do.

Thanks

I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but is his TV gig even full-time?

I couldn't believe it when I read it. The best was the "maybe" part and then doubles down and says no way....

Matt Jones is not a tv newsperson or just the "host" of a show on tv. He is the show. It is his show and would not exist without him. That's a different situation entirely.

Yesterday Matt let everyone know the salaries of a lot of UK Athletics employees such as gymnastics coach, equipment managers, and volleyball coaches yet never reveals his own.. Id guess he makes around 300,000.
Too damn much
