When does the coach look in the mirror and say this job is way over my head. You can't ask kids to dedicate their lives to the program if they don't get much in return.

QB Cooper just did not look good tonight. Running game was way below average. We punted very well.

Why do they run the read option with a qb that isn't a threat to run? Pretty easy for teams to key on the rb. Pass patterns are terrible and calling swing passes on 4th and 10 is not good.

Couper is a pocket passer. Nothing else. We don't have any big backs to pound between the tackles. We are limited in what we can do. Even if we were to change out of the spread-we wouldn't be any better. We have 5' 4" 140 lb running backs- and defensive backs. We just don't have the skill kids.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a major coaching staff overhaul done after this season, I have no inside knowledge, but you would have to think it's coming folks.

It's a combination of lack of talent, bad coaching, bad scheme. Not sure if a coaching change is coming, since it's unclear if the Boylan admin. really cares about football wins/losses right now. The downward spiral is shocking, though.

How do they not care about football wins/losses? Do they need to wake up and smell the coffee?

Enrollment is way down, the football program is a shell of its former self, the basketball program is now average after being elite. Facilities are behind the RPS schools that now have turf fields for games (soccer/football) and sparkling brand new field houses and weight rooms at each high school. The school itself is a dump, no offense. I know Boylan is putting in a field house as well, but after all the RPS schools have theirs in. Lutheran is turning into the premier private school in Rockford for basketball and football at this time, that has to attract other families in Rockford to want to attend there instead of Boylan.

Please explain, in great detail, how Boylan is "a dump".
Locker rooms, Auxilary gym, weight room, classrooms are all outdated and need work. Walking down the hallways of the school, the halls are nicer at Harlem HS, Belvidere HS, North HS, Hononegah HS. I'm strictly talking from a facility standpoint and when you walk into the school what you notice (floors, walls, ceiling, etc.)

Sure there is a pool, a very nice competition gym, a nice baseball field, and the football field is OK. From an academic standpoint, the school is strong.

Boylan does not benefit from the $250 million in tax dollars that the rockford public schools are using to update aging facilities. Public schools benefit from countless hours of free labor and material donated by heartland community church to spiff up hallways, locker rooms, gym lighting, landscaping, and many other free bees. Boylan raised funds to build a new field house to keep up with the ones being built at Auburn, Guilford, and East. There is a big difference between private school fundraising and tax dollars used by publics. We do not need field turf, I like natural grass. I simply disagree that you describe Boylan as a dump.

Just my two cents. Well aware of how private schools are funded, the $250 million project that is ongoing in RPS205, and the work being done by the church in the summers. I imagine the other coaches in the area are using their new facilities as a talking point when they are trying to get 8th graders to stay home at the public school.

Just saying, that I get the feeling that Boylan doesn't recruit as aggressively as they used to. There might not be as much importance placed on sports these days. Also, the updated facilities for RPS has leveled the playing field. Pun intended.

I would be more concerned if i was one of the larger teams in the conference who barely beat Boylan. You have great feeder systems, facilities and large rosters yet you struggled to beat Boylan. Just my opinion.

I agree. I can see Hono and Harlem maybe winning one game in the playoffs. Auburn, and the Belvidere schools can go deeper.

All depends were everyone lands. I would agree that right now Hono and Harlem look to have a tougher route than the other schools.
-Hono. Do they start to gel and get better? Somewhat shocking loss to Belvidere. Or do they end up around 6-3? Depending on 1-32 seeding they could either draw a very good team from the suburbs. Or do they get a team closer to their skill level.
-Harlem. See my comment about 1-32 seeding in 7A. All depends who they get at 7-2 or 8-1.
-Auburn. See above. I would bet they go 8-1 and get a high seed. Could make a run depending if they can avoid Mt. Carmel, Glenbard West, etc.
-North. If north goes 7-2, all depends who they get. Do they get a CPS school in round 1 and have an easier game? Or do they draw another 7-2 team from the suburbs that plays tougher competition in the season. Hard lesson was learned last year against Lake Forest who was a good team that lost to three good teams in the regular season.
-Belvidere. All depends if they get into 5A or 6A, would rather get into 5A and play some CPS schools in the early rounds. The upper bracket of 5A looks bad.

Yeah, I just looked at catch 22's playoff projections, and none of the nic-10 teams would have a sure win in the 1st round, let alone the later rounds. I just hope they're competitive and don't beat themselves with penalties or turnovers. I'll be rooting for them all. It's hard to be a hater when the team you root for has been so good for so long.

Harlem and Hononegah will never make deep runs in the playoffs. They prey off 5A and 6A teams during the year. That does nothing for them in the 7A playoffs and that has been proven the last 10-15 years. Beating teams that have 1000 less students than they do isn't exactly good playoff prep. Its helps the Belvidere's, but does nothing for the two big schools. They seem perfectly content to win 7 or 8 games every year and then maybe win one playoff game at best in 7A.

.Both Hononegah and Harlem lose last night...Harlem with their 2300 enrollment lost to 1200 Belvidere.
