Now I remember who your boy is! Good luck against Pierce. He is a handful.

Thanks. He has the highest respect for Pierce. He's 3" shorter than Pierce, but since he's the tallest of our CBs he came home last night to say he'd be the one covering AP all night. Needles to say I may have to unsubscribe Saturday in shame. I'm really shocked Pierce hasn't received even higher offers than he has; I was on the Iowa rivals board arguing that the Hawkeyes should offer Pierce last spring. (and ironically I argued even harder that they should have offered Sam Brodnar).

I wouldn't worry too much about Pierce. I hear he is just being used as a decoy this week. Word has traveled about a lock down CB at LT, so Hetlet & Sig are going to save him for a game in which they actually have a chance to compete.

Relevent to this thread. This young man has been following the team along the season and creating a movie and highlights along the way, I thought this was well done for tomorrow night. I think he's talented.

I know you are messing with me, but AP is very good . He has pretty much everything: tall, fast, good hands...Problematic.

I might be messing with you a bit but I know you've gotta be a proud papa to watch your kid step up on such a big stage and try to lock down an all-state receiver. And yes, Pierce is legit. I've seem the kid catch footballs 11' off the ground. Most everyone saw the kid lay out fully horizontal to pull in a ball against MS. I've watched the kid take over a game against E'ville last year, burning them over and over.

It takes a huge set of cohones to walk out on that island and take the responsibility your kid is taking tomorrow night. Not sure I would be getting much sleep if our places were reversed. Good luck tomorrow night.

Hopefully GW makes it interesting.

Thanks Cap. It seriously means a lot. Just ran in to him as he's grabbing something he needed on the way back to LT. Most nervous I've seen him in a while.

It's a good reminder to everyone that these are stilll just kids on a big stage. Be kind if AP blows up tonight. Most importantly , hopefully no injuries!!!!!! Have fun.

This could come down to a guessing game that swings wildly on big plays. If GW safety tries to jump a skinny slant it could mean quick TDs or INTs that shake Bryant. He didn't shake last year but did as a Soph when pressured.

Good news for GW is the weather. Had it stayed hot, the many two-way guys would have been more easily gassed. After four weeks of hard, hot practices, they will be ready to stay on the field all night in the cool crisp air.

I do think we can beat the 111 point spread.
Good luck Capn!!!!

A couple is silly turnovers by GW but GW is pounding the running game. QB Hollensbe settled down nicely.

Bryant has a cannon. He has thrown 25 & 30 yard out routes on the money with gas. GW eating up LT running game and getting pressure on Bryant with delayed blitzes.

GW gets 2nd half kickoff up 14-3

Alec Pierce beasting on LT. Good job Hitters. Thanks for the point.

Guido-tough night. Pierce has pretty much done that to everyone. Tell your boy to keep his head up and to keep working.

Congrats to GW. Played great. Tough night for us for sure.

I guess I watched a different game. Pierce was held in check, didn't do much at all. It was the power running game and coaching, not the QB or Pierce. And the one "touchdown" he has was a miserably bad call. I've watched it 20x, ball clearly knocked out of the his hands and rolling on the turf. The refs were confused and nobody ever signaled a TD! GW just sort of ran out and decided to kick a PAT. Very strange .

Anyway not ever remotely blaming the refs, that was a good old fashion butt whooping, but I'm still salty about that nonsense 2 hrs later.

The high school rule is different from the NFL rule. It appeared like he had the catch in the air and to the ground and then it was batted out while he was laying in the end zone. Similar to the Calvin Johnson play years ago but with different rules. But if I was an LT fan I would have wanted it to be called incomplete. He also made a big catch on that odd play with the random whistle. Then he had the big run with the stiff arm to finish. Add in the int and that is a pretty big game considering GW didn't even have to throw the ball at all after the first drive. LT had no answer to stopping the run and did very little on offense to allow its D to rest. Overall the game could be a sign of what could come in the playoffs for LT if they are one dimensional on offense and can't stop the run. Hopefully they can recover and smack around the Red Devils.

Hey Guido, I agree on one point but not gonna call anyone out.

Pierce is a man amongst boys. That 65 yard TD run was a Play of the Year candidate and his interception at our 5 yard line at 28-3 sealed the victory. I haven't seen the TD catch but I'll take your word that it might have been a favorable call. If so, it was the only call we got all night. At least during the competitive part.

I wouldn't be surprised if Edgy doesn't report a few big offers for Pierce this week.

Biggest story though was the running game. If Ty Cox were a couple of inches taller and 25 pounds heavier he would be a top 5 2019 RB in IL. That kid on turf is a freak. Haven't seen the stats yet but well over 200 yards on about 15 carries. One run had six cut backs across the entire field.

532 yards rushing. Not sure GW wants to play at Duchon again.

Pierce was bracket covered all game with 2 guys most of game. Over and under coverage which is why GBW ran the ball for 400+ yards. Pierce still had 2 TDs and a backbreaking interception on D when LT was driving.

I just watched the TD catch. I see him catch it, get two feet down, then fall back on the ground. I see where your man then pulled it out after they are on the ground. I see TD pretty clearly

Holy cow. I did not see a 35-3 pasting going into this game. But I don't know the WSS conference very well either. Congrats to the Hitters! They will be one of the favorites if they can sneak into 7A! Even in 8A - they will be a very very tough out. Forget game 1 - they have really worked through the kinks and growing pains. Kudos to their coaching staff!!

I’ve been highly critical of LT in the past and all season and sorry LT guys but it’s only going to get worse. I’ve watched it all year long and am consistently underwhelmed. There is no run game, no threat in the backfield. The whole OL is first guy off the bus types yet are mediocre run blockers at best. Not knocking the kids because with those frames and offers etc it’s a schematic or coaching deficiency most likely. The Fisher kid is a nice player but there isn’t a single other receiver that does anything for me. Simply put there isn’t another guy out there that can make big plays or get open.

The D is just ok, I’m not going to get into it because I don’t want Guido to take any offense although I honestly think the world of his kid. He’s a QB that moved just this year because of Bryant and hasn’t really played DB since his 8th grade year. I respect that. I think LT will have big problems with HC and will be an early exit barring a dream draw.

I never bought what the LT people were selling on this team, especially when they said it would be LT’s best team ever.

Hopefully they bounce back and prove me to be an idiot, I would be happy to be wrong in that case, but until then color me skeptical, STILL.

I also have some unpopular opinions of Bryant but I’ll leave that for another day.

I think LT is still a good football team, but they seems completely unprepared for this game. As previously stated, they have underperformed all season, and tonight was no exception. Is this a coaching issue? Or are they just over rated?

However, tonight GW proved that they have fixed their problems (well, most of them) from week one. I expect to see a ranking adjustment this week, and, if GW continues to improve in each of the remaining weeks of the regular season, then they should expect the be playing football deep into November.
