Re: GYER24-0

I would think Baseball players from the past would hold up much better than the other sports where athletic ability is much more dominant in say football and basketball. I mean parks back in Ruth's day were enormous with their outfield walls compared to today and such. So Ruth hits .233 in present day baseball?

Pretty much. Especially in basketball and football.

Even if you look since say 1980 at the emphasis on training, diet, year round coaching, advances in technology and medicine the jump wasn't as big as full integration from '50-'80.

Get ready.

College basketball changed sometime between the 1978 title game and in 1984 when we played G'town in the tournament, 2 completely different games on the court. Actually probably happened in '79 when Magic and the bruthas ushered out Bird and the honks to win the title.

Bird played against african americans. Lots of them. Some argue they were more fundamentally sound/skilled back then, too.

For records/streak purposes, do players till get "All Star" credit when they are forced to back out/be replaced due to injury or other reasons? Surely so, right?

Re: GYER24-0

College basketball changed after the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985 and the three-point line was implemented two years later. Did you know that the three-pointer has revolutionized college basketball? Because it really has.

The game in 1979 was pretty similar to the game in 1986. Bird's Indiana State team had to beat Arkansas and the Triplets in the Elite 8 and an iron 6 at DePaul led by Mark Aguirre in the Final Four to get to the Michigan State game, so it isn't like the tournament put them up against Pennsylvania or something.

False. The Fabulous Five played against many ninjas. Haven't you seen pics of them vs. Temple, CCNY, etc.? UK played teams with good/great black players from the mid-40s on. "They" just weren't allowed to play in the South until the late 60s. But "they" started making All-America lists in the early 50s and were making up ~ 50% of All-America teams by the time of Chamberlain, Big O, Elgin Baylor, KC Jones, Bill Russell in the mid- and late-50s.

But college basketball didn't transform itself from the set-shot, crip-shot style to the above-the-rim, slam-jam game until the late 70s/early 80s.

Yeah.

Honestly think Iowa would be the scariest game.

*That East Bracket is pretty stuffed.
*I'd be really happy with Wisky and Duke eliminating one of the the potential 3-4 teams that can beat us.
*Zags don't want any part of IU in the second rd. That would be worst case for those guys. Really bad matchup for them.

SEC still with 6 teams possible... that bracket with a possible Duke/UGA 2nd round matchup. I wouldnt like that at all.

This on CP.

In real life, I am an average dude that would never hurt anybody unless I had to for my families safety. Since we are judging each other on our CP posts I will say that Clark you come off as a gaping *****. In real life, I bet you get told what you will spend your money on, where/when you're going during the holidays, what you're doing on the weekends etc.

If I am wrong..... Go get pumped, anyway. If I am right....enjoy your weekend trip to Bed Bath and Beyond during the UK game, puss boy.

Re: GYER24-0

Speaking of using the middle initial, I have a neighbor who introduces himself by starting with Dr. .......
The best part, he isn't a MD, he has his doctorate in some psychology ********. Grates the hell out of me. Ultimate douchebag move.

Cal can pull his dick out and piss on the floor for all I care. What he has done in the short time he has been here, still amazes me. He could sleep with my wife, and I would still probably fellate him.

This weather sucks, almost as bad as kanye.

Pretty much, ending the IU series is the only thing he has done to piss me off. And I don't care what anyone says. He ended it. Nobody had ever brought it up until he brought it up. I love him though. He's a complete coach and definitely the best at this current time.

A+ for Brady, because it was funny, and because I'm guessing its probably pretty true.

I see shades of "LSU doesn't get to play their first two tournament games in their home arena".

They're good. But Hot Plate Williams isn't walking through that door. They aren't winning their first three in that bracket.

Re: GYER24-0

I was just messing around. They probably won't even make it. I'm fine with any bracket they give us. Things are starting to happen that I've been wanting to see. Drew Harrison is making mid range jumpers. Towns is being featured in the post. WCS is dunking every time he gets the chance. We've played in a number of tough games. I still think we'll drop one or two but it won't matter. This team is primed for March. I feel good.

Re: GYER24-0

Thursday Afternoon Randoms:

- colder than a witches titty in a brass bra doing pushups in the snow, I'm such a jew I've refused to turn the heat on in my office today because we got a high electric bill last month

- Good friend and former coworker passed away earlier this week, 54 years old and had just made it through some major medical stuff, then gets taken out by a blood clot. Life isnt' fair sometimes.

- Lost my drone on a pretty high roof a few weeks back when it got caught by wind, found it laying next to that building today and it still works. Pretty pumped.

- The only sport you can compare across generations are baseball

- Ate McDonalds for lunch today out of necessity, first time I'd eaten a lunch there in years

- Taking a day off tomorrow, hitting up the International Farm Machinery Show. Got some tickets to the tractor pulls, going to get my redneck on.

- V-day does indeed suck from a holiday standpoint, completely commercial venture with female emotion used as a pawn.

- Ready for spring

The stories Barkley told about Bird crushing Bud Heavies poolside during training for the 92 Olympics are fantastic. Barkley tried to hang one day with Bird and became obliterated.

Re: GYER24-0

Haven't looked at that bracket but Georgia could absolutely upset Duke in the round of 32. It's just that theyd have to get granted a waiver to advance because they would also absolutely get motor boated by seton hall or lasalle or some stupid **** in the first round.

- Made reservations at Waffle House for Valentine's Day. $25 for two steaks, a heart shaped waffle, hash browns, salad, and pie. Candle light and romantic place settings as well.

- Brady's always been a good dude to me.

- Tark > Dean

- Dream bracket.

I read this like Bird was making fun/talking smack to a guy named Bud Heavies.
