Re: GYER30-0

Why would anyone prefer Central Time? I don't get it, and I grew up in CST.

Gets dark around noon in the winter, and no sun til 8-9pm in the summer?

What am I missing?

I've lived in three time zones and Central is best by far. Extra hour of sleep is clutch.

Shocker that the slugs would want an extry hour of sleep over improved quality of life/summertime fun.

UK basketball doesn't PLAY in the summer, so that whole argument of staying up later for games is irrelevant.

Much appreciated, Joey.

We're gonna murk whoever...but Wisky/Duke in Indy would be quite the atmosphere.

Yes, but you still aren't calling it a day/night until 8:00-8:30 and you get the extra hour of sleep.

Thanks for reminding me of noon kickoffs. Just awful.

-Read Stoops' presser comments. Good news is that for the 25th +/- season in a row UK football has gotten "bigger and stronger" since last season.

/rolleyes

Can't wait to pass the eye test this fall!

Well, at least one of UVA and Duke is going to lose next weekend, if it's Duke, and Wisky handles their business, they'll get a 1 seed. Wisky just doesn't scare me though. We beat the exact same team last year, and that was without WCS. They are older and better - but we are A LOT better, we negate their strengths, and I don't think they match up well with us.

Plus Jackson is still out with a foot injury. Who knows if he'll even play in the tourney or if he will be 100%.

My only concern with playing Wisky is that they are dirty team, and they'll hurt one of our guys again, like they did the last two times we played them.

Don;t get me wrong, if UK gets the top #2 again, it's ********, but I'd rather that 2 be Wisky than UVA. I think Duke loses before the E8, so I don't really care if they are our 2 seed.

Hopefully they continue this domination of OSU and can get those guys off the 8/9 line.

Wisky should scare anyone. Especially us.

Duke
Wisky

That's the list of who we should be "scared" of. Either of those teams can beat us when they are hot, and/or we are off. Zona making a late push to the conversation, and I'd rather not see UVA either.

You could even argue Wisky is the #1 team we DO NOT want to see.

I'm not "scared" of ANY team, but get real. We do not want to see them as our #2 seed.

Re: GYER30-0

I don't really get the whole "extra hour of sunlight" in the day argument.

There's nothing I like more after I get home from work than working more. Leave at 7:30, get home a little after 5:00? Great, now I have 2 1/2 hours of sun to do yard work and other stuff other than relax and wind down.

I used to be able to sneak in 9 holes one day a week, but even that was balanced out by one night of mowing and another evening of tinkering around the house. I really hate losing the hour of daylight in the morning - going from running at sunrise to running in the dark and finishing just as the sun comes up.

You can stretch it to 8:20 in Paducah. That gives you a +10 on the Fun/Sleep scale over Louisville.

I don't WANT them as our 2 seed, but I'd rather them than a fully healthy UVA (JA will definitely be back by then). If I'm choosing between Wisky and KU, Gonzaga, AZ, Duke - yeah, I'm picking Wisconsin last.

I don't even know what to think about Villanova, but they seem like a lock for the East at either the #1 or #2 seed, so I guess we don't need to worry about them. Them losing pushes Wisky to a #1 though, so I guess I hope they lose.

I still don't understand this thinking. UVA and Wisky are very similar, except UVA is more athletic and WAY better on the defensive end. Not great on offense, but methodical. IF Justin Anderson is playing, I'd much rather see Wisky than UVA. If JA is out, then I'm not concerned.
We wouldn't get Uva until the final four if they fall to a 2. If we get Wisconsin then we play a final four team in the elite eight. This isn't that hard.

Having a hard time seeing the NCAA Selection Committee keeping Wisconsin off the 1-line if they win the B1G Tournament. The only way I see both Duke and Virginia keeping their 1 seeds is if they both make the ACC-T final.

Virginia is likely to play either UNC or Louisville in the semi-final. A loss there should drop them to the 2-line, if Wisky wins out.

Current RPI

Villanova - 3
Duke - 4
Virginia - 5
Wisconsin - 6

Current SOS

Duke - 14
Wisconsin - 21
Virginia - 25
Villanova - 45

vs. RPI Top 50

Villanova - 11-1 (6-1 vs. Top 25)
Duke - 10-2 (6-1 vs. Top 25)
Virginia - 8-2 (5-2 vs. Top 25)
Wisconsin - 8-2* (2-2 vs. Top 25)

Basically, Wisconsin has as good of a resume to be a 1 seed as any of the teams above them. The only discriminating factor between the four teams is wins against the RPI Top 25. Even if they stay on the 2-line, it's goddamn criminal to put them in the same region as the #1 overall seed.

OK. Not sure why Wisky can end up in the Midwest, but UVA can't. Cleveland is their closest regional too. Guess the committee only cares about that when it suits them. Kinda ******** that the East and the Midwest regions are being played about 300 miles apart. Whatever.

Yep. We just saw what a NON-elite team with 5 guys that can play around the perimeter can do to us.

Basically by UL beating UVA that means the ACC is playing for 1 #1 and Virginia isn't locked in. This all lap pairing two of the best teams in the west as well.

The tourney is about luck and breaks as much as anything. If we can cheer for something to get gonzaga instead of Wisconsin then we need to do everything in our power to do that.

Virginia would go east with nova. Kansas south.

If Wisconsin loses again then we have to be geographically fair to Gonzaga, assuming they push past Wisconsin but not Arizona. Cleveland is about 50 miles closer to Spokane than Houston is so Gonzaga would have to go there.

Syracuse is about the same for UVA. Like 30 miles difference. I'd assume they would send UVA east to avoid us of they're the same distance and closer for Gonzaga.

JB should probably be picking up his 2nd win of the year today, but he's been as anti-clutch as possible.

I hope you've taken full advantage of those 45 minutes of sunlight you have over the folks in WKY.

Man, sportwriters are just about the bitchiest people on the planet. Dan Shane@&$$:&;$; is this pissed 20 years later because his buddy didn't get invited to Cal's house for selection Sunday?

That slight 20 years ago has him fired up enough to throw Bill Cosby comparisons out there? And invent things that never happened? What a little *****.

Still awaiting the hit pieces on Boeheim. You know the guy who has actually been caught cheating. Twice.

I read that garbage article and it pissed me off because it is horsecrap. I thought about it again when I read your post and it now brings me joy knowing that he and the other "journalists" that love to bang on Cal are giant vags that are butthurt that UK and Cal are thriving and the 'it" program. We will see more and more of these articles in the near future, and the "smart" people in the game (Bilas) will keep preaching that Cal is doing it right and good for the game.

I remember reading this thread in 2009 and the pure excitement of knowing that we were back in the game, and reclaiming our righteous place in CBB. We also knew that the Forde's and Bozo's of the world were not at all happy at Cal landing somewhere that he could dominate CBB like never before.

Let the hit pieces keep hitting the streets and at the end of the day they look like the real asswipes.

What a different game it was then. Both teams running up and down the floor, quality flow, and the refs not blowing the whistle every time down the floor.
