I'm the biggest hypocrite in 2015.

Kendrick breaks it all down for you just perfectly, actually, if you really listen to the song and understand the message.

Don't worry, by the end of the week this OU story is gonna be spun into the same old debate:

"Hey, if it is wrong for whites to use The Enn Word, then why don't you coloreds stop your own from saying it so much? In particular your rappers?"

Absolutely. About fainted from overwhelming outpouring of emotions. UNC fan about 3 rows down looked around, I'll never forget his expression, like "WTF is going on here and should I flee?"

-Like I said earlier, yeah we all did dumb things. Like drink and drive and had we been caught there would have been repercussions. Just like if you're singing a racist song and it causes a national outrage. Someone was taking the brunt. That's life. Yes, murder and manslaughter is worse. Great comparison.

If it had just been the "N" word, kid would still be at OU.

"Hang them from a tree" kind of changed the whole context of the song. That's pretty bad.

Corporal punishment for singing a song... AMERICA!

Doesn't deserve the entitlement? What entitlement? That he has parents who sent him to college?

Well, I don't know WTF you were doing in college, but neither I nor anyone in my frat sang a gd song about lynching black people and dropping N-Bombs left right, celebrating our racism with glee.

What's worse than that? Assault, rape? Yeah, never did that either. Cheating? Nope.

What exactly were you doing (hundreds of times) that was just as bad? Sorry, but I don't consider underage drinking BS frat fights or consensual hook ups as "unspeakable".

I don't know if this is expulsion worthy, but I certainly don't mind that he's expelled. It's not like he can show his face on campus anyway.

No. When Randall gets invited to New York as a Heisman finalist, I might change my mind.

Jesus, man. Calm down. While I don't give a **** if he gets kicked out I think we've gone a little overboard here.

The damage for him is done. He was being an idiot. Case closed.

Add "on camera" and you're 100% correct. These damn kids today and their need to record every aspect of their lives. I'm surprised something like this hasn't already happened. How many times do you think a questionable song like that has been sung on a party/frat bus in the South? Hundreds? Thousands?

Rack.

And to that point, I'm betting Parker isn't some white supremacist. Take it from a former(?) soft white kid... He's a soft white kid. Mom probably still does his laundry. Dad definitely gives him beer money. I'd bet he's fairly intelligent, actually. He just participated in a folksy white kid rite of passage whose time is long gone and now he's going to pay the price. Pretty much as simple as that as much as America wants to make it out to be an OMFG NEW GENERATION OF HITLERS IS HERE.

It's not really that. He's just a confused soft white kid.

Is he for sure already expelled? I'd be surprised... Usually you have to have some type of precedent on your campus for a punishment... there is also due process that the student has a right to defend himself. Public college can't just expel a kid without allowing him the chance to go through a conduct process.

If they've always expelled students for racist commentary, then nobody should take issue with it (after he has the opportunity to go through a campus hearing). But if its been ignored in the past, or students would only be slightly reprimanded- and now all of the sudden the punishment changes that drastically- you set a standard that must be again used the next time it happens.

So a student made terrible and explicit comments- but nobody was specifically harmed or threatened- and nobody was put in danger. The comments were obviously disgusting- Nobody is objecting to that. But now if racial slur=expulsion, the school will be bound to responding the same way in the future.

Least surprising news of the day ---> A bunch of silver spooned former fraternity guys defending young Parker. Just because you used to do it doesnt mean its ok, you all were/are just as ignorant as the Oklahoma SAEs.

Little Miss just under Parker's arm. She could easily be in the spotlight. What about the guy/girl who filmed the video? Or the other 50 people on the bus? Should they all be expelled?

I mean, okay Dennis. You went to UVA, but here's the reality for those who didn't attend UK...

It's comprised of a lot of kids from all over a poor white state who bring with them different experiences and archaic beliefs from a lot of different regions. Add peers, alcohol, and limited outside influence and ugly things do manifest. So, yea, I saw and heard a lot of things and they weren't exclusive to any fraternity or club. TMFS.

Not sure but last night they were talking about her alleged sorority (Tri Delt) already distancing themselves from her.

* Good to see GYERO working on being the moral compass for the world these days.

* On that note, I can't remember what news agency wrote it, but there was a good article about the aftermath of that PR gal who made the AIDS joke on Twitter while on a biz trip to South Africa. Did a pretty good follow up on the whole gang up mentality of social media goes these days.

* Austin Kendall de-commit from UT. Landing that type of recruit is about the only thing that can hold a class together over the span of 10 months. Need to get him on board and recruiting with the quickness.

I think 20-year olds are sometimes irreverent for the sake of being irreverent. And that's what SAE and others were trying to say about this guy, who we know nothing about other than the 15 seconds we have on tape. The overreaction is stunning. He could have gotten behind the wheel drunk and killed a family of five and not faced this sort of outrage.

How bad has it gotten? There was a girl in the video who was allegedly clapping along with the song. She is now being investigated by the school and her sorority.

We had some tunes that some people would find offensive, (particularly the SAE's and their mothers) but we never sang any songs about lynching black people or gleefully celebrating racism. That's a big ole Turbo false.

That chant on that video was something that was well and widely known to that group. Definitely not the first time it was sung.

I think what pti and Bbdk are referring too was typical college/frat guy hijinks that if caught on camera, would look bad.

I like how Brooks refers to himself as a soft white kid.

Anyways, moving on.

Yes, anyone who was in a fraternity is "silver spooned."

I was "silver spooned" because I used my student loans to pay the $2,000 a year (or whatever it was at the time) to pay membership dues. I was also "silver spooned" because I chose to go to college. Yeah man, my dad was a high school basketball coach/teacher and my mom was a social worker. We were loaded.

Good Lord what a stupid opinion.

There was a guy in my FRATernity that took a dump in a plastic bag, then put it under another guy's door handle to his car. Then we watched the guy open his car. He was pissed. It was pretty funny.

That would be a viral video today with little outrage I think.

He (they) feel entitled to look down upon other people because of their skin color. He (they) thinks it's funny.

Not that difficult.

Bet you go to church, too.

If a student reported to the University that he saw this happening, but didn't record it, nothing would have happened.

I'm not really commenting on whether that's good or bad, because honestly, I don't give a ****. I'm not getting outraged at every little thing that comes across the wire.
Agree. But the same university allowed Bob Stoops to accept Dorial Green-Beckham.

I agree with all the comments that the dude is a complete jackass, but expelled for saying something stupid seems over the top excessive relative to other things. Saying the N-word: outta here! Beating a girl: made a mistake!

Anybody who has been in a frat knows those kids have been saying that **** since their big brother taught it to them. The thing I have a problem with is this one kid is taking all the heat for the busload of racists. SAE is closing the chapter(washing their hands of the problem hoping it will just go away) and that kids life is ruined . Hell, If I am not mistaken Barbie was clapping right along with their nonsense.

If you lived ,at all, in college you did some extremely dumb ****. It would be embarrassing if it were caught on video. However, you would have never caught the large majority of us saying **** like that. The young/dumb argument doesn't work. Young people don't sing chants like that, racists do.

My original thought when someone said Parker was getting kicked out of school was why is he being singled out?? There were at least a dozen other people on the bus singing the song. It wasnt a freaking solo, the person recording just happened to be by the kid. I guess they need to expel every person that was on that bus that was a member of the frat.

Yep, that's the sick part.

ISOLATED INCIDENT!! NOTHING TO SEE HERE!! PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

That's how most old people act about this stuff because they can't deal with this **** for whatever reasons. Wish I understood. Can't imagine how mind-touching that is, or even for you not so old people who have might have enjoyed racist white traditions with your peers in college. It's got to hurt your brain a bit.
