Re: GYER34-0

Was explaining the SEC Tourney to the lass last night as such- it's basically UK Fan Mardi Gras- partying, letting loose, one last hurrah and celebration of the season before the struggles, penance and sacrifice of the NCAA Tournament (Lent).

Yeah, this tournament is not going to be "fun." It's not fun feeling like you're going to puke the entire day of a big game and feeling like you might keel over during it.

BUT it can be rewarding.

Apparently Mrs. MCF and MCF are sick too. Keep all your sick asses at home.

BBdK, "Hey, me and my wife are really sick. She can't even get out of bed. Anyone have any extra tix so we can give you the March Flu too?"

She'll be fine Saturday, she got sick last Thursday. She's on steroids, already feeling close...just waiting on voice to return. She's at work today.

And get pumped. You're gonna be crammed in tight spaces with 30K random nasty people, many of which will likely be feeling marginal or sick themselves.

If you're that worried about it YOU stay home. K?

F you smartass.

I meant round of games, 12/1pm then later so on and so on. Some just bet games they like at 6pm for example and run parlays that last all day. That was my point if I hit early games I keep it up, once upsets start popping off I stop for the day usually.

Maybe you would know this if you would marry your common law live in girlfriend and knock her up, but supposedly pregnant chicks have compromised immune systems. So though I'm not going to stay at home all the time, if I know 4 of my people have the bubonic flu, I would like to not be right next to them for 3 days.

I'll just eat an extra orange each day. I'm actually not a germa-phobe normally.

The wife has been down for the count since Sunday night. Can't speak, fever, chills, etc. I managed to get by with just the fever and chills. Had planned on leaving work at 11:30 and posting up at a bar to watch the games, now I'm just heading down late and going straight to the game. Trying to rally for Saturday, somehow, someway.

Like I said, it's 99% just the past weekend getting it's revenge.

I get sick EVERY year post SECT, w/ Bronchitis 3 of the last 4 years, in fact. This is by far my mildest hangover/sickness yet. A drop in the bucket as Stu would say....still not ideal tho.

"And thus I clothe my
naked villainy

With odd old ends
stol'n out of holy writ,

And seem a saint, when
most I play the devil"

I've spent a great portion of my years fighting a losing battle. Tooth and nail, blood and bone, quip and keyboard have been the viscera and the tools of my war. I've used logic, reason, appeals to rational minds and every weapon at my disposal. I've gone through opinion, fact, statistics and old fashioned common sense in the way an archer goes through arrows. My quiver is empty now, I have nothing left to shoot. But I will not stand down.

We're cheaters, we're "everything that's wrong with college basketball," we're "crazy." These, and a host more, are the things said about the Kentucky basketball program over the years. Rick Pitino is the coach? He's a cheater and too slick. Adolph Rupp? He was a racist and your titles don't count. Tubby Smith? You ran a great coach out of town… but we don't want to hire him because we laughed at you when you were down under him and proclaimed your fall from grace to be a permanent state of affairs. Nothing a Kentucky coach does, or a fan says, or how a player performs will ever change that. We will not be respected (for the most part) for our dedication, passion and pride. Our tradition and history will be vilified and have aspersion cast upon it in an attempt to blacken their achievement and merit. The hypocrisy of others will be ignored, the shaky foundations of a system whitewashed so that its stains can be overlooked in the pursuit of the false idolatry of the "student athlete," as the stones are cast against us in the name of sin.

I never wanted to accept this role. I wanted folks to see the good and take the bad with a grain of salt because, in the end, we're all guilty of something. I know now that it is never going to happen, so I have chosen to embrace what so many have wanted to thrust upon us: We are the villains of this play and we are going to play the role to the hilt. We are the evil that is coming for you out of the dark. We are going to be every ugly, hateful and spiteful thing that you've said all along. We're going to crush your Cinderella, beat the hell out of her Prince and then burn her house down with her wicked stepsisters in it crying for mercy.

Why? 'Cause that's what villains do. We're not redeemable, we're not anti-heroes and in the words of the American poet Common: "We straight nightmares."

Re: GYER34-0

I saw a scalper pay $250.00 per ticket, about an hour before tip, for uppers to the SEC Championship Sunday. It seems pretty stupid to lay $500.00 in hopes to make a hundo that close to tip.

Backwards hat scalper was just pacing holding his single high in the air. For whatever reason, I enjoy watching that circus.

I find myself wondering if Fox could be a big winner at a school that, you know, actually gave a **** about the basketball program.

It would never happen...but what if IU missed on options A-E? The smart fan knows Mark Fox can coach, he's had terrible luck with guys jumping to the league a year before they were ready and still keeps that program respectable.

Instead of taking a flier on the next Darrin Horn that catches fire for one tourney run, I think if I was a Hoosier fan I could talk myself into a guy like Fox who is still young but is a proven X's and O's guy and decent recruiter at a school that just doesn't care for the sport.

It wouldn't be a sexy hire but it would be a smart/interesting one.

For goodness sake UCLA hired Steve Alford.

Yes, helps a LOT to go against regional biases. All Big East/ACC honks up here. In a bracket with 60 folks for work, and over HALF do NOT have UK winning it all. I get the Dukes, AZ, and Wisconsin, even though picking anyone but UK is stupid, but we have lots of Nova, Notre Dame, Maryland. No. This is the year to pick the obvious winner, then hope the rest of your picks are solid.

Man Iowa State is such a risk. I mean I think they have what it takes to get to the Final 4 but have lost to South Carolina, Texas Tech, and Kansas State. But they beat Kansas and Oklahoma twice and Arkansas. So who the hell knows,

-Not much worse than "office NCAA viewing party", when your office is 90 percent hens and non-hoops guys. Just walked by the "party", and they had set out grapes(
) and chips with no salsa, and one hipster is in there drinking coffee. That's it. That's the party. NCAA website live action in my office on my PC for the win.

-We're all gonna absolutely despise Jennifer Garner and Samuel L. Jackson by the time this tournament is over.

-Fox is intriguing. I want to see what he can do if he gets Jaylen Brown next season. He has a strong backcourt coming back, so putting that marquee scorer on the wing could make them a 25-win team. (Ir)regardless, I think he jumps at the next premier job that opens up out west....maybe UNLV or Washington. That's his comfort zone.

-They're putting out urgent, desperate pleas to all parents who signed up their kids for soccer, saying they're desperate for coaches. And if you don't know anything about the sport? "Just learn along with your child!". False.

-I know it's archaic and whatnot, but I love the print version of TCP that comes out tournament week. Nice little capsules for each game. Perfect for the end table during home tournament viewing, IMO.

Do grapes confuse you?

Iowa St sounded really good to me for some reason. Don't know a thing about them. Just figured a school like Iowa St probably cheats and probably has some athletes. I wasn't impressed with their bracket.

Watching now. They pass the look test.
