18. Instead of the usual tournament, the NCAA should've made Kentucky play each of the 67 other teams.
JOE ROBBINS/GETTY IMAGES
Assuming Kentucky doesn't completely crap the bed, there are only a handful of teams in the country that could take down the Cats. And Kentucky has to play only two of them, at most. Villanova and Virginia are out, Arizona and Wisconsin will have to play each other before the Final Four, and the same goes for Duke and Gonzaga. This is why I say we take the selection committee's 1-68 list and Street Fighter[/I] this sumbitch. Kentucky starts at team 68 and moves up the list with each win until it reaches the top. And what happens when it runs the table and ends up 101-0?6 It goes up against the final boss, which is - you guessed it - the Philadelphia 76ers.

Howland has talked a lot about running more up tempo if you read later interviews. Not a fan of his style overall, but I'll take a wait and see approach. Still nice to see the sec getting some quality coaches in beyond the usual suspects.

Am I the only person that WANTS to play Duke or UL in the title game? I want to crush Wichita. I want to have a chance to smack Arizona. No point in being a whiny nervous fan.

I don't want UL to make the FF. But if they do, might as well smack them down by 20 in the championship game. It would be good for our 95% of the state to demoralize them again.

I don't want any part of UL. It's not that I truly believe they could beat us, but the possibility, however remote, is too much for my heart to handle. That would be a torturous game.

Actually, see UCLA's last two seasons. Bad personnel but the offense wasn't in quicksand. Still, he may go down as the coach that made Westbrook look human.

Oh and eff that CMD. I want those effers even with the risk. Nothing makes me happier than what happened in 2012 and 2014. I want a title game to rip from their hands. I want to stomp their toy right in front of them.

I just don't want Louisville to get any further because the local spotlight needs to be entirely on Kentucky. Even if Louisville were to make the championship game and get crushed by Kentucky by 20, you're still just going to read countless stories about how great the rivalry is, how the two teams push each other, and yes Calipari has owned Pitino and Louisville, but it's just so great that the state is dominating like this. Screw that. Kentucky is dominating. Kentucky is bending over the rest of the college basketball world. This is not a group effort.

Alabama officials are prepared to present an offer in excess of $3 million per year in an attempt to lure Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall to Tuscaloosa just as soon as the Shockers' season concludes, multiple sources have told CBSSports.com.
The sources said Alabama's administration is determined, one way or another, to make a big hire to replace Anthony Grant in response to Auburn employing Bruce Pearl last March, and Marshall is essentially alone atop the wish-list. Alabama cannot offer Marshall great basketball tradition, school officials understand. But one source said they plan to pitch "piles of money, an athletic department with a culture of winning and every resource he needs to compete with anybody on a national level." It's possible football coach Nick Saban could eventually be involved in what would amount to a high-profile recruitment.
"Alabama is gonna go big," one source said.
Marshall led Wichita State to a win over Kansas on Sunday that pushed the Shockers into the Sweet 16. The 52-year-old has taken WSU to four straight NCAA Tournaments. He made the Final Four in 2013, earned a No. 1 seed in 2014, and has won nine league titles in 17 seasons as a head coach. He's previously rejected overtures from several Power 5 schools -- among them Missouri, California and Tennessee.

I don't want to play UL in the Finals simply because screw them and rick Pitino, I don't want them getting that far. They certainly don't deserve it. Oh, and there's this douche in my office (big UConn fan - from New Jersey
) who is sitting right behind my 1st place bracket. He has UL losing to UK in the finals, so if that happens, he definitely wins.

But as far as playing them? Yes please. Those scrubs barely beat a 14 seed, probably deserved to lose, quite frankly. We smoke them. Duke, Arizona, Wisky are the only teams I'm truly concerned about. I guess ND, but not really.

Drove around UK's campus a lot over the weekend. Amazing how much building is going on...doesn't even look like the same place compared to 5-7 years ago...let alone the 90s. The areas around Kirwan and the Library have completely transformed. Really impressive to be honest and will help the university recruit a different level of student.

The only "disappointments" were the baseball complex, which is just way too small for the amount of money being spent elsewhere, and the football complex, though the stadium upgrades and planned football improvements will bring that along.

Law school is still the ugliest building on campus though.

Kids met Aaron Harrison too. That was pretty cool.

Umm, that would be awesome, but per his own mouth he's already had several schools "open up the checkbook" for him, and he's passed.

I don't see him taking anything other than an Elite job (Texas counts), b/c he's going to be on the shortlist for every one of them that opens up if/when they do.

Duke and Wisconsin at 8-1 is not a bad play at all if you want to throw coin down on a squad. *If* we dont go the distance, a little change could ease the pain a bit.

I'm glad Mike Brey retired the mock turtleneck. That's the one thing I couldn't stand about that guy.

He's gotta be on the short list at Duke when K retires, right? If it's gonna stay in the K family/coaching tree, I'm not sure they could do any better.

Bama can talk big and act like they will throw piles of cash at some big-time coach. But at the end of the day they'll hire a has-been like Howland or unproven young coach like Grant was when he was hired.

- Brey seems very likeable and he's done an extremely good job at Notre Dame.

- Marshall is an interesting case. Guess he's waiting on that right offer to come along.

- Tell ya what.. The crowd at the YUM on Saturday was really loud. It was like the party on the street made it's way into the arena. It's amazing how much better our postseason crowds are than typical Rupp. Get that it's the postseason & that plays a role into the crowd getting more into it but a lot of it has to do with the old white stiffs that make up the majority of the lower bowl of Rupp.

- At least Bama is thinking big. Pearl being down the road, currently crushing it in the studio gaining exposure for that place certainly has them realizing they can't half *** this hire.

That Bama-Marshall story reads like the one on Miss St 5 or 6 years ago how they were gonna "break the bank!" and hire a big-time football coach, like a Chris Peterson. Settled for Mullen, who was a good hire, but took several years to build.

A young up & commer is not gonna go coach basketball at Alabama. Do like Auburn, find an established but tarnished veteran. Just for gods sake don't hire another defense first/offense dead last coach into this conference. Or in other words, lose Jamie Dixon's number pls thx.

-Bama isn't getting Marshall. Mainly b/c WSU will still be a contender next year, he has that place rolling. He'll get a job he can actually succeed in and just b/c Bama can pay the only reason they care now is b/c of Pearl. Once he's gone they won't give a **** again. Those west teams just don't care. At the LSU game literally no one we asked had any clue who Ben Simmons was. SMH.

-I get the anxiety. I have it as well. WVU is a mirror of the same team we lost to, although I don't think anyone is as good as Butler. They're athletes, they're going to play nasty. Tyler Ulis is going to bleed from some where.

-I don't see them sticking with the all in O boards and trapping all game. We'll be leaking guys out the whole time. Not against us. Also I think he'll have to play more M2M press and less erratic. Even Arkansas OMG 40 MOH!!! sagged off it several times in the games we played. Like Chuck said, you want to speed this team up? Good luck with that. I think Bruce Pearl said the same thing before the Arkansas game.

-Wisky need to be worried about the ball screen? Altman doing work. That Oregon team is awful BTW. Telling you that D is suspect. Zona might be my one team I don't want to play heading into the 2nd weekend.

^Two things, I don't think mods even really care anymore. Also, great timing. A Ktatum championship run drop in is always a great sign.

-This Marshall news is very timely for the Shocks. Have fun dealing with that circus. Still not sure if I'd rather have them or ND.

@ how pissed Cal is right now. Hehe. My guess is we're going to be ready to steam roll by Thursday. Poor team, probably hearing all about it right now. Good, a little mid tourney controversy... that's where Cal crushes. If anyone had the time it's going to be pretty obvious who the voters for Bennett are because the ones who didn't are quick to let everyone know how dumb it was. Probably in hope Cal doesn't black ball them.

COY is typically a joke.

Hell, Coach K has NEVER won AP Coach of the Year. That's pretty much all you need to know about that award...

If Brey decided to finally just wear a shirt and tie on the reg, he'd be much more likable. That mock t'neck and the silk blend suit shirt is a bad look and I cannot support that.

We sobered up at the game, but the PILES of empty airplane bottles all over the YUM! floor made it seem like we were the only ones taking a little break.

For someone who not only likes to play the villain, that Ellis kiddo sure was butthurt about the entire game. If youre gonna go out there like Laimbeer, own it. Dont get all mopey and teary eyed when you get ribbed for it.

I cant recall a time ive had more fun than in the past couple weekends. Nashville, parlayed into that scene in downtown Louisville was a much needed escape from the grind. Bonzo said it best that we can all take comfort knowing that no UL fan can ever have that experience. Obviously they cant play in their home venue and there is no other city they can travel to that would rival the scene. Was wild to look around and see GYERO'ers all over the place.

Glad chief wasnt there.

36 voice mails on my phone when I got back from a week off. I havent even started listening yet. Not sure I will either. Depressing to think about.

Talked with my dad about maybe hitting Cleveland Saturday if we get through thursday, but right now I just dont know if I have it in me- especially if i'm doing Indy. Totally looked into a flight already though.

Got the green, err, let's call it 'yellow' light from my lass to do Cleveland...but it would need to be old school style splitting costs with a person or two. Have a room, but that + gas + tix + food/booze will basically be an SECT tab all over again. No luck yet, but not totally throwing in the towel.

-Twitter seems pretty outraged over the Cal deal, and not just UK guys either. Dakich has his machine gun out in support of Cal. Be interested to see if/when the usual suspects come out with their reasoning.

-The Louisville arena scene/setup is pretty awesome, even under construction as it was all weekend. Once Whiskey Row is completely done in a few years, I imagine it will rival just about anywhere in terms of setup.

Was it just me, or was it way more packed down there than in 2012?

...on that note, read today Manny & Merle is expanding into the building next door as well.

The area isn't literally dirty, it's awesome. I said I felt dirty using their digs and stomping ground. You ceould tell all the bar tenders had a chip on their shoulder with the mist everywhere, same with the staff inside. I also enjoy getting out of town for that weekend. It's cool and unique once every few years I guess.

Ha, the singer at Ruby's came on stage and yelled... "how about that Cardinal win today" expecting a big round of applause. Everyone just looked at him, not even one person clapped. Pin drop.

Smooth Zero yesterday.

He & Blackshear = The Same Dude.

Still remember when scouts were gushing that Selden, not Wiggins, was the "most impressive" player that summer/early season.

hope the trend holds from this little factoid tweeted out:

"#Sweet16 fact:
8 seeds who just upset the 1 seed (NC State) are 5-0 in the Sweet 16 vs a 4/5 seed since 2000(Louisville).
10-2 all time."

I'm thinking all the horror stories about I65/64/bridge construction + Ohio river flooding the roads & parking places scared off significant numbers of Wildcat Friends who might have otherwise come downtown, walked around, ate at the restaurants & bars.

Portis leaning towards coming back?

I'll believe that when I see it...and SEC dude (non UK/UF) turning down a guaranteed 1st Rd would be the upset of the year.

And amazingly, Gottfried himself did it in 2004 with Bama.

Of course, none of the prior ten coaches had to face off against HOF CRP (lol) who was undefeated in the Sweet 16 until the refs cheated last year.

I'm not in the least bit concerned about F'ing Louisville right now. They'll lose eventually. They're not good. I've got bigger fish to fry. Some of you are way too concerned about them.
