Chicken and Wild Rice soup from Publix today. Spot on.

We had an awful "efficiency meeting" at work and the first thing that the speaker asked was "whats the first thing you do at work in the morning" and while most people lied and talked about checking their emails/project dashboards/checking on colleagues/etc... I was honest and said that I immediately check the meme's that my pals send me on instagram. Then I take time to search my feed for an even better meme to send them in return.

It's the beginning of daycare disease seasons and our household has already been lit up. The notion of a tiny person with a runny nose passing that on to an adult where it becomes a full blown deathbed experience is beyond me. I dont get it.

Its' been 19 years since the Red Sox began to come back from 3-0 down to the Yanks... I'm still impressed with the Roberts stolen base considering how quick to the plate Rivera was and how fast Posada get the ball away from behind the plate. I also really recall how cold it looked in Boston. Does it even get cold anymore?

The first pitch to Schwarber last night was a batting practice fastball, and that ball was gone as quick as I'd ever seen one leave the park. I like when outfielders basically dont move because the ball is so far gone.

Seeing the pic of the snarky bitches text group all at the game made me really sad I wasnt there. It was quickly followed up with one sent to me where they were just giving me the finger- which was very on brand.

We don’t do lawn decorations for Halloween but that may change soon. My 2yo is obsessed with them. A house on the way to his sitter has a full blown tales from the crypt style lawn right now and he makes me bring the vehicle to a creep and roll the window down so he can stare at it each morning.
You aware of this place on Toronto Road? I pass by it every time we go to church so I forget it's not common knowledge. They encourage kids to get out and see them all.

This place is a local favorite, and it's about a $2 million home.

Skeleton House

Draws big crowds taking pictures all month long, has a 24/7 security guard, and I would hate it if it wasn't pretty clever and fun.

Kyle Schwarber this season:

.197 batting average
47 home runs
48 singles
104 rbi
108 runs

Bat leadoff. [laughing] [laughing]

You just can’t make sense of any of this. What a great game.

The fact that the Cubs just let him walk should have been grounds for someone’s termination

And he hit almost 50 home runs and drove in over 100 RBI’s from the left side of the plate. Something the Cubs haven’t had since he left. They also got NOTHING for him.

Sent you a place to take him for a full light and music show Halloween themed on FB.

Was watching this in Haggin Hall wondering WTF just happened??? Did he say "Earthquake???"

Can you imagine being in a dump of a sports stadium when one of the biggest quakes of modern times hits?

It’s funny to see a cubs fan complain about Schwarber on the Phillies but he walked 5 years ago.

I don’t hear Nationals fans complaining about Harper or Trea Turner who are far and away better players.

FYI when Schwarber left it was to Boston where he could DH because no one wanted him in the field!

That’s right, barely played 50-60 games too but he is on the Phillies and that’s what we needed this year! [eyeroll]

I think Texas can beat a hot Phillies team. Honestly kind of excited for it.

* LOL at Shane Beamer breaking his foot after kicking something out of frustration for losing the Waterhead Bowl to Billy Napier. What a dork -- a dork who will probably kick our *** in a few weeks.

* The YouTube algorithm is generally pretty good at identifying content I want to watch but what is up with their featured stuff? I have never and will never want to watch beatbox videos, people do calligraphy, black girl hairstyles, and whatever other crap they try to spotlight. What a bunch of blue hair nerds.

* Could really use some stories about how Stoops has threatened to cut the next guy who gets a personal foul, chained Key and Brown to a jugs machine during the bye week, hit Zion Childress with a sock full of tennis balls, etc, you guys.

* Anyone got recommendations for stuff to do in Gog and Magog?

- PTI's gal, probably

False. Much more handwringing with Turner being let walk than Harper. Both are badasses but the caliber of play that the worlds fastest paperboy brings to a lineup at that position should have never hit the market. The Lerner's are idiots who are more focused on trying to sell the team than winning, now that they got their ring.

The Lerners gave Steven Strasburg $245 million, and he proceeded to repay their kindness with the following stat line over 4 seasons before he abruptly retired:

8 starts
1-4
6.89 era
31.1 innings

If you're gonna lay out that kind of cash, you damn well better be right. And they whiffed, BIG TIME.

He was just off a dominant year, and a WS MVP. You think they should have used their crystal ball to see if he was going to get hurt 5 months later?

:rolleyes: anyone who's followed baseball for a hot second knew Strasburg was injury prone. But if you are that clueless, a quick 5 second Google search shows the extensive list of ailments that sidelined him.

Yeah, he dominated in their postseason run to a World Series but that doesn't whitewash all those 10 trips to the DL. It was a stupid contract that paid him handsomely for six weeks of dominate pitching.

No, I don't think they should have looked into a crystal ball. They should have just done a quick perusal of the back of his baseball card.....

2015 = 23 starts / 127 innings
2016 = 24 starts / 147 innings
2017 = 28 starts / 175 innings
2018 = 22 starts / 130 innings

A full season for an ace starter, as you well know, is more like 32 starts and 200+ innings. Go ahead and put UKO down as the only guy on the face of the planet who was surprised that the guy who's always hurt got hurt.

Just catching up, but IIRC Turner was traded to the dodgers before the World Series run I thought.

I’m pretty sure he had no plans to resign long term in Washington after they gutted the team, and then he and Seager both got hurt in LA and both were let go to FA.

Seager going to Texas and is a huge part of their success, while obviously Turner in Philly.

Both are gone and LA is a new overpriced Yankees.

A whole lot of bad front office work all around to get these two teams to a World Series.

Randoms...

- NYC was amazing as expected, especially seeing it through the eyes of my youngest, as it was her first trip to the city. Basically left the itinerary up to her, which meant shows and museums, primarily, but it was three days of unreal food and palpable energy. Would love to make an annual trip up there and build it around a sporting event, mix in a show, an agreeable dinner, kick a little tush and get back on the bus, etc. Also, timed our exit just right, as we left town the same day Times Square turned into an Israel/Palestine demonstration zone.

- Amazed how quickly musical artists rise seemingly out of nowhere to megastar status. It used to be more of a slow burn, but now it seems like relatively new acts are selling out arenas, etc. Six months ago, I'd never even heard of Noah Kahan, and just thought the guy was some mopey emo my kid loved. Now he's selling out MSG, Fenway, etc. Oldest got tix for his Nashville show, and it's the most excited I've seen her since the college decision was settled. Obviously I was NOT out in front on this guy.

- Always had a soft spot for CFB and CBB guys who cut their teeth in the D2, D3, and NAIA ranks before hitting the big-time. John Beilein and Bruce Pearl come to mind in hoops, and in CFB, Lance Leipold (Kansas) and Kalen DeBoer (Washington) come to mind. There's a lot to be said for guys who have proven that they know how to win games and run programs, even at lower levels. With its access to talent, its location, fanbase, and NIL support, Washington is gonna be a PROBLEM as long as DeBoer is there.

- Haven't done a deep dive into the CBB preseason polls, but it sure seems like if they get any outside shooting at all, it's Kansas, then it's everybody else. I will go ahead and predict that Brad Brownell finally gets canned at Clemson after missing the tournament and they hire Bob Richey of Furman. It just makes too much sense.

- "Wrestlers" was outstanding.

The new Rolling Stones album roles out Friday and I hope it's as good as I hope it is. I would love to see them go out with a bang. What am I talking about they will outlive me.

Even as a broadcaster I’m taking Jeter over ARod. Jesus that douchebag making jokes about being on the only team in history to get beat when up 3-0 is just awkward.

Jeter following up with a look of disgust and saying “well there was nothing good about that series, period, and they had to pay me a lot to discuss it on the pregame show”.

Just to have ARod continuing to cut up and joke with Papi about and Jeter just having a look of “you were never a Yankee and still have no clue”.

I’ve always hated the Yanks, but I absolutely respect Jeter(and Don Mattingly).

If someone blows up into super stardom seemingly overnight it’s probably because of TikTok.

Kahan is on Zach Bryan’s new album but it was one of the songs I didn’t care for.
