Just to clarify, you want all 110k points to post in the same calendar year, ideally as early in the year as possible. What you don't want to do is get the card(s) in the fall, meet the sign-up bonus right away and have some of your points post in November/December, and then rest of your points post after Jan 1.

If I never bring another thing to the table in this thread (which is likely), the SWA card and companion pass is more than enough. Basically Tom Banjo for life.

Cal can talk about the Wisconsin game in 10 years and most of us will not want to hear it. It's right up there with Pitino not putting a man on Grant Hill.

I guess I will continue to be the only one still blaming the goddamned referees more than our HoF Coach.

I blame them big time. They gave Wisconsin new life and swung the momentum of the game 180, but Ulis should have been in the game. Booker was getting abused and WCS was playing like a wet stinky ******.

Lol, lil nelson has come a long way. From Chase Freedom $500 annual payouts and poo-pooing free flights/bonus churning to now having 17 simultaneous churns going with himself, his wife, and in multiple family members names and manufacturing 100K per month or whatever crazy **** he's doing.

I'm jealous as hell, but am way too poozy to attempt what he does. Makes me nervous thinking about it.

He's more extreme than ukguy78 these days, pretty impressive.

-Don't hate on Southwest, though. The Companion Pass is the best value/prize in the points game (for regular folk. Anyone with a 700 credit score and a job can do it in 2-3 months and fly free as much as they want for 2 years), and that airline is as efficient and reliable as any. Just an awesome company, imo...wish there were more like them.

southwest is incredible. it's like they made a huge list of everything that sucks about the airline industry, and then decided to not do that.

Pretty much.

But the airline snobs always scoff at them. It's no frills, but the only bad experiences I've had have been on the others.

Plus, they don't charge for booze. :100points:

I can't tell you how many times i've gotten booze on SW, and they say "we'll come back around later for payment", yet they never do. Has to be 90% of the time. ...and half the time I have free drink certs that just get re-pocketed.

^ exactly. Guess 'they' don't like the cattle call/lineup? Dunno.

Not to mention "First Class" on most normal domestic routes (unless you're going NYC/LA or something similar) is nothing more than a few inches of legroom, a ghetto curtain, and a few free drinks or microwaved meal.

Oh, and PRIORITY BOARDING. The more time you can sit in your airline seat while waiting for everyone else to board, the better, imo. Southwest doesn't have that, pretty much amateur hour.

She call already? I missed her if so. Can't imagine the breakdown after last week...

I always thought priority boarding was clutch only for the overhead bin space, which fills up quickly on most flights. nice to not have to go back six rows to get a bag or to have five people pass it forward.

still haven't gotten into the points game.

as long as you check in online reasonably early, this is never an issue.

not to mention the fact that you can check bags free. oh, and the other airlines generally suck *** overall.

Fills up quickly on what flights? 98% of all SW flights (and any others I'm on) are completely full, and I've never once seen an issue with bin space for even the losers who forget to 'check in, except for a few 'shuttle' short flights, when they make you leave your baggage at the bottom of the ramp with all the strollers, wheelchairs, and fetish shavers.

If you require extra, check your bags like a normal respectable person, or just learn flying.

The next time I encounter "no overhead bin space" will be the first, and I'm pretty comfortable saying it will NEVER happen in my entire life...and if it does, it will have been entirely my own fault, and I'll just have to deal with it.

adam is really weird, so I can certainly see that presenting a variety of issues. bags, security, boarding, seat assignment, beverage service, elbow room...you name it.

-Who the hell doesn't like Southwest? Seems almost un-American. After my last interaction with Delta... touch them. It's every single time. Well actually they backed into accidentally fixing the issue but caused a ton of agony along the way. If I could fly Southwest everywhere I would. 1st/Biz is great for International but like BBdk said I'd take the ease of flying over a little leg room everyday.

-You gotta be crazy organized to have that many cards. Also, spend a ton of money. 2-3 at a time is plenty.

Do have a wodie International Biz class situation on an AirBus booked for London in May (points [smoke]), but we'll be doing coach + Xanax on the way home, fa'sho.

It's a complete waste of money/points on most domestic though, unless you're just a baller/businessperson who's not paying for it.

Maybe you'll get the chance to upgrade to biz class last minute on the way home? That's happened to us a few times and it's worth it, IMO. Especially on the way home when hungover as ****. You could argue it's better on the way there to arrive "well rested" and get the free drinks to start the party of the trip.

Last trip before kids, BBdK?

Maybe, just pumped about the flight over. Always wanted to do it like that once, had the points, and seemed to be a good option for the reasons you mentioned. Figure on the way back we'll be dead and not really care...+ drugs.

Wife actually brought up kid for the FIRST TIME (with regards to the next few years, which is a start) last night. o_O I blame your picture with me & George.

We'll see.

-Yeah on our way back from Brussels we upgraded for like $275 each. Easy call on an 8 hour flight. Check on that when you check in.

-First time watching a game in CW on TV. Man, looks great. I think our threads this weekend are phenomenal.

-Just a few minutes in and I haven't got the announcer hate. Granted, I get that it sounds worse during the heat of battle.

if you're pumped about an international flight in any capacity, you're an idiot. 1st class, business class, pilot, whatever. that's a long time on a flying vessel.

^ thanks.

Lol, an extry $1000 (per Sloot's text just now) isn't an "easy call" for a non-rich on an 8hour flight, bub... if you have Xanax. Especially after a bank-breaking trip. Must be nice.

Aruba is 6 hours, and we manage that just fine with accessories.

-Tell that to ukguy78, Ursch. He BOOKS flights based on how long they are....last year, he booked a flight b/c it was the "last run" of the 'longest flight in the world' available, and he had to be on it for "the experience" [laughing] #weirdo

Try 8 hours hungover with jet lag coming and being in actual 1st class seats. Rather than being crammed next to a stinky Euro you're sitting in a bed with a glass of champagne and a sleep kit, QC1 head set, blue skies. Worth every penny.

I did not mind flying to Germany at all. Flight seemed actually kinda quick. Flying home sucked ***. Flying against the jet stream is no joke. Headed on my 10th trip to Japan in 3 weeks. That flight over is the absolute worst. Nothing you can do to be prepared for it no matter how many times you have done it. It's 14 hours of hell.

If you're rich, Anth. I mean, most people don't have an extra GRAND to drop on an upgraded seat at the end of a vacation...or maybe I'm just a jew.

"Anth has selective memory, our upgrades were $499 per ticket, fyi. Worth every penny though" -- Sloot (2 minutes ago via text)

Enjoy

My last three or four flights I've had to use bin space at least three rows from my spot. Maybe just bad luck. Do like SW, but I'm not driving to Louisville just to fly on it when the company pays for my flights.
