It’s official. Coach Hampton has been approved as the next head coach at Socastee High School in South Carolina. The move made official at the Horry County School Board meeting tonight.

Yet another good young coach leaving North Carolina for South Carolina.

Can you blame him? He would have to be a total idiot not to go there. Taking care of his family is most important. The only drawback I can see is if the school has been a competitor for awhile and if he, for some reason, doesn't do that well there, he won't last too long. But from his past experience and his resume', I'm sure he will be fine there.

$$$ is the key to going to other states. He will have to win at a higher level, losing in the early rounds of the states will not be acceptable. Still do not understand how NR has never won a state football title, especially at 1A. They are always big and fast with good numbers.

Actually just making the state playoffs and being more competitive will be a good improvement for Socastee. They have been terrible since Hunter Renfroe graduated.

They play in a terrible conference that makes them look a lot better than they are. 3 of the worst, if not the worst programs in the state are in the conference. And SS and Ablemarle would be bottome feeders in other conferences.

Bottome feeders??? Did you see what Albemarle did to Hayesville and people claimed that Hayesville would finish 1st in the YVC if they were in it. SS and Albemarle are better than people/fans give them credit for. Oh yeah, lets not forget that NR actually lost to Albemarle this year, the refs missed a really late hit out of bounds and they missed up on a illegal kicking call also that help set up NR in scoring position with just a few seconds left in the game.

Tough but fair. At least at this point in time.

The YVC may be bad now, but when Thomasville, West Montgomery, East Montgomery, Albemarle and N Rowan were in there it was a monster of a 1A league, regardless of the bottom feeders.
