Looks like two NU grads will start at LT for their respective teams tomorrow when the Browns play the Chargers.......Wills is hurt for CLE so some guy named Blake is the likely starter. Got to be the first time in NFL history NU players have started at the most critical OL position in the same game.

I like the Chargers in this one. Garrett is banged up, Newsome isn't playing and All Gaz No Brakes will get a Baker sack.

This is the knock on Newsome. Great talent, but can't stay healthy. This is the second straight game he's missed.

AWalk is off the IR and should be back on the field for the Browns.

his pro career shouldn’t change from his collegiate career. I was surprised he went in the first round based on that fact.

Holy crap I just noticed these 2 teams are playing each other. I hope one of the talking heads notices that there are 7 (?) NU players rostered on these teams

He's been really good in the games he's played for the Browns....but now he's out for multiple games. It is consistent with what we saw during his time at NU. It doesn't sound like the injury is too bad, and hopefully we'll see him back on the field soon.

Despite the inconsistency of his OL units, Cushing did a really nice job recruiting & landing these two studs.

Not many college football programs have two LTs starting at any given point in the NFL.

Maybe not. In the mid and late 80s, Chris Hinton/Colts and Rob Taylor/Buccaneers were both playing OT, and almost certainly played each other on a couple occasions. Taylor graduated just one year before Hinton, and had a really excellent eight year career with the Buccs, and for some reason has been overlooked on this board when it comes to NFL Cats.... or I have missed mentions of him.

Other long time fans here might be able to help out - I'm not sure if Taylor played LT with the Buccs or not, but I do remember he was a starter at OT for most of his time with Tampa.

By the way, they never played on the OL at the same time at NU, because Hinton only played on the line for one year in college, his senior year - another fact that makes what he accomplished (1st team All American, 4th pick of the NFL draft, long NFL career with seven Pro Bowls) just more incredible.

Taylor played RT according to a Bucs site:

So this may be the first game NU had 2 starting LTs......

Hudson came into the game last week instead of Blake. Might be the same situation this week.

Halftime update.

Hance is looking really good. Browns have run behind him a lot. Gave up on pressure to Bosa but it was called roughing the passer.

Slater gave up his first sack of the season but has played very well against Garrett.

AWalk is out there but haven’t noticed him much.

Cleveland secondary is really missing Newsome.

got a couple of Gaziano vs Hance reps. Blake is winning that matchup.

fun game so far.

Hance shows what the proper coaching and development can do for a player. You can't teach speed but you can teach a lot if things.

Trent Green gave a nice shoutout to Northwestern. Mentions a lot of Northwestern players are in this game but kind of got cut off.

How are you watching the game. I'm stuck with the Bears v Raiders.

Geez, is anyone playing defense in this game? The Browns sure could use Newsome out there.
In the second half, Browns were playing without their two nominal starting CB's and OT's. Great game to watch, tough loss for CLE.

Some guy named Blake was probably the best NU player on the field today. He completely decleated Bosa in the 4th quarter.

Yes I caught that as well. I think he was about to name all the NU players on both teams but got cut off. Great game. Too bad Jackson was out again. It was mentioned that the Chargers were searching for a #2 back to Ekeler….which would be Jackson if he could stay healthy. Says he still
has groin injury. Chargers might be looking for a new placekicker after the 2 missed PAT’s today, although the Chargers had some nice 2 pt. conversions and 4th down conversions. 3 impressive consecutive wins for the Bolts.
