The movie was the last one on sports that is "based" on a true story that I will ever watch. Down and out owner, jockey and trainer my ***. The same 3 won 2/3 of the Triple Crown the year before with Riva Ridge.

Watched Secretariat run in person twice before the Triple Crown. The Belmont race was special to me because he ran every quarter faster than the previous one while setting an unprecedented record at a mile and a half at that.
Only one other horse I’ve ever heard of even close to his level was Phar Lap. If you’ve never heard of him take the time to check out his story. Racing commission didn’t want him beating US horses and put outrageous weights on him and he still won. The rest I won’t spoil but it was unreal what they went through.

Listening to Run For the Roses by Dan Fogelberg on a local radio station. What a great song.

American Pharoah comes close, 37 years between Triple Crowns + won the BC Classic, and won 3 of the four wire to wire, will be very very difficult to duplicate. Only lost twice in his career, and one was the very first race of his career.
