This year is so much different for me. A dad of a HS football player. Yah he's a freshman (my boy made freshman A) it's a whole different ball game.

What isn't new, is the chill, the buzz and the excitement I still get about tonight. Though I'll be off the sidelines, my love and thrill for the game won't waver.

Love this day!

Welcome to High School football 2016. Everyone is 0-0. Every team, realistic or not believes they have that winning formula that can end up in Champaign in late November. For one night, no one can argue that.

So bring on the rivalries, the trash talk, and that plays that make us all forget that we are watching teen aged kids play a grown mans game - and yet, they wow us, thrill us and even put a lump in our throats when they take their first HS snap.

Can't think of a better place to be then a HS football game on a Friday night.

Best of luck to every young player tonight and for the next 8 weeks!

Welcome to the greatest game on earth and welcome to the season!

Play hard, play smart, play together and be safe!

that is the best feeling in the world watching your son run out on a high school field to play for his school. Enjoy it those 4 years go by fast. I am on the other end of the spectrum, my son graduated last year and chose not to play in college so this is the first time in 10 years I won't be going to games to watch my son play at any level. But I still love high school football.Have fun
