Am watching The Ten Commandments with my young family. Charleton Heston is great and Anne Baxter (wow).
“So it is written, so it shall be done”
Happy to Easter to all.

I’ve often thought of writing a comedy bit where cecille b demille is in a room with a team full of writers, and he’s screaming at them to the effect that “this whole exodus story is just not good enough! You guys need to think of something to spice it up!!” Writer number 1 says “how about we add a love interest?” And writer number two chimes in, “better yet- a love triangle!” To which writer number 1 says, “that’s it - we make Mrs pharaoh hot for Moses”. Demille replies, “have it on my desk by Monday morning.”

My parental Ukrainian grandparents would be celebrating Easter on the 12th this year, if they were still alive.
My Slovak grandparents would be celebrating Easter today.
😢
My deceased wife was Ukrainian, I'm Czech. I converted years ago. God bless your grandparents. Berezhy vas Hospod.

It’s Easter Monday, celebrated in Polish communities as Dyngus Day. It is huge in Buffalo, NY & Cleveland, OH

It’s common to think of pre-Lenten festivities such as Mardi Gras and Carnival but Polish Americans mark the end of Lent with some community fun right after Easter Sunday.

This public celebration known as Dyngus Day, which is also known by the name, Śmigus-dyngus, falls on Easter Monday. For 2026, its calendar date is April 6.

This Polish American tradition not only involves people affectionately spraying others, as an act of cleansing or purification, but the day involves another interesting practice. It involves the tapping of people with ***** willow branches, reflecting a practice traditionally used in Poland that uses this plant in place of palms on Palm Sunday.

I do recall reading about this tradition
