I think is interesting that a former quarterback is having problems finding his Andrew Luck to play for him at Michigan. Once he gets one we all better look out. Jim may never win a lot of NCs but his team's will always be relevant.

He coached 4 years at Stanford and Luck only played for him for 2 years. 29-21 in 4 seasons. (4-8, 5-7, 8-5, 12-1) and gone to the NFL.
Shaw has done ok at Stanford and only had Luck for 1 season. 69-19 6 plus seasons

Michigan is trending down but they still play sound football... If I was a Michigan fan (puke)... I wouldn't be panicking whatsoever.. They have a good staff that is capable of fixing problems as they occur. A rational fan can identify the difference and be patient.
Maybe PSU's kryptonite is "bend not break" defenses? Of course, our defense has to learn it's "bend not break" not "bend then break". Hopefully, our D is healthy when we play PSU. I do think a healthy Jones, Kalu, Reed and Aaron Williams could improve the defense a ton over what we saw at OSU.
