What a disgusting person. That girl needs jail time and put into a psych ward.

Title is a little misleading, nothing racist about it.
Just a very disturbed college student, that needs to face some consequences.

Yeah. Is that woman a racist? I don't know. Maybe.

Is she a c***? Absolutely.

Since when did people start using the word "racist" to mean "*******"?

I was going off of what some were saying since one of her charges could be looked at as being racist. Either way that's pretty crazy. I don't know how that girl didn't notice the blood stains or even her tooth brush tasting like ***. I know I would notice

She very well could be racist, none of us have any damn clue what her motivation was, and it 100% could have been race driven, quit being snowflakes and overly sensitive about it.

It's just the go-to if there's ever an interaction between a white and a black person and the white person is the perp.

Just mind conditioning.

Still, one of the grossest things I've ever heard.

I like all forms of great put downs with racial overtones. Doesn't matter if it's a black guy putting down a white guy, Asian guy putting down a Latino, or white girl putting down a black girl, or whatever. And while I absolutely do not condone all the sick things this gal did - and I do hope she gets jail time - I did think "Jamaican Barbie" was pretty damn funny.

She very well could be a racist. But that isn't the story. The story is that she was an absolute c*** to her roommate.

Nobody is being sensitive about racial implications. If she did that craziness because the roommate was black, well f*** her. If she did that craziness to her roommate because she just didn't like the roommate, well f*** her.

At the end of the day, she's still an absolute c***, no matter her motivations.

That was my whole point and exactly what I said. She very well could be racist or couldn't be. Instead of commenting on the story random posters started saying "Well she might not be racist!!" Who gives a ****, why is that even being commented on.

Well the thread title is "hartford woman takes racism to a whole new level". So it isn't out of line for people to point out the fact that racism appears to have been assumed whenever the behavior is the disgusting part of the story and her motivations appear to be unknown.

Guys, her nickname in the article is literally “Jazzy” so I’m pretty sure that clears things up a bit.

The "Jamaican Barbie" quote by the crazy wench is what made it racist.

Why does that make it racist? She’s Jamaican, and being called Barbie simply means she’s a preppie girl.

If that’s what is considered racist, then the bar is extremely low.

The word racist is totally meaningless now. I couldn't care less if I'm called a racist today. It has no power thanks to the misuse of the word daily.

What was interesting about this story is that in the original news story, the photos were glamour shots and Instagram pictures of the criminal. It wasn’t until some pressure that the journalists pushed and got the mugshot.

Pretty sure a racist is just someone who disagrees with you on any topic but specifically social topics of the day.

I have no idea if she's a racist; I'm more concerned she's a psychopath that is need of serious help.

I hope the roommate sues the living **** out of her for pain and suffering.

The thread title is false advertisement. Disgusting for sure, but racist? Seems more like a deranged nutcase to me.

Since I don't know the whole story I don't know if this DA is racist or not, but from the information available, from her own mouth, there is more evidence pointing to racism than not. Anybody saying otherwise is jumping to conclusions, and for what reason? People saying this was not a racist hate crime at this point makes me suspect of their motives.

Meh.

I think the very idea of a "hate" crime is stupid in the current day and age.

This woman's behavior was criminal regardless of whether or not she was motivated by racism.

Hate crimes made sense back in the day when it took federal prosecution because local courts would not fully prosecute crimes where the victims were black, etc.

Now it just confuses the issues.

EDIT: If there is specific evidence that federal hate crime prosecution is still necessary because state courts aren't properly prosecuting legitimate crimes against minorities, then I'm all ears and I hope the federales poster the culprit.

But I'm of the general opinion that "hate" crimes were already crimes to begin with and I am not aware of any credible current evidence that crimes are currently being prosecuted differently based upon the race of the victim.

Are you serious? Honest to god some people walk around looking for racism.

The girl is an idiot for sure, and she may be racist, but calling someone Jamaican that is actually from Jamaica isn’t racist for Christ’s sake.
Jamaican isn’t a race, it’s a nationality!

You are a sick dude. Seriously, I mean that. Paranoid and delusional.

Jamaican is a NATIONALITY, not a RACE.

Are you offended by whitewash too?

Good God some of you are just pitiful.

The bar is about a half inch off the ground. There are racists behind every tree. The only way to avoid being called a racist is to never mention the subject or automatically agree with what someone of another race says. Meaningless pejorative for many years now.

There are some real low mental midgets here that can't read a post unless they get all offended. Some cannot respond without all the toxic manly drama! They have to be reassured constantly. I don't know if the woman is a racist or not ---- wait a minute I've already said that!!! Still some faux offense is triggered. What a dim witted response by some. It just is.

Oh? Name examples.

I'm pretty sure the entirety of the thread broke down like this:
  1. OP posts a horrible story where a white c*** did something awful to her black roommate with the title "hartford woman takes racism to a new level".
  2. Posters react by saying just because the accused is white and the victim is black doesn't necessarily make the situation racist, but there is a significant possibility that there is a racial component to this idiocy. And either way, if the allegations are true then the accused is a complete POS.
  3. Posters state that no matter the motivation of the accused, if she did what she is accused of then she is a criminal. If she was motivated by race, that's awful. If she is just a garden-variety idiot, that's also awful. The roommate should not have to endure that abuse.
  4. The pushback occurs where people are being accused of being pollyannaish about race being important in the story, when it really isn't. And there is an attempt to brand people who are thinking "honestly, does this involve racism? It might, I don't know but it really doesn't matter since the culprit is allegedly a POS regardless of motivation. So either way, whatever. She needs to be prosecuted."
  5. Some ******** accusation of racism or race-denial against people who are being level-headed and sympathetic to the victim.
Spare me the nonsense.

The cry of "RACIST, HOMOPHOBE, TRANSPHOBE!" about everything that some people don't like is the anthesis of actual discussion and is ridiculous.

No, that’s not what you said at all. You wrote that you leaned toward her being racist, and you suspect people’s motives that don’t think it is.
What is racist in “Jamaican Barbie”? Just explain why you think that’s even remotely racist? The girl was from Jamaica, and she is an attractive lady.

No one is offended, But by somehow thinking that’s racist is a huge problem in society today. Everything is racist to the point that people don’t give a **** anymore, the danger in racism is being watered down so much that you do more harm than good.
