Has 2A ever been this deep?

How long has it been since 2A had this much talent in one year? Even though I feel Appomattox has what it takes to win a ring (Im bias), I know its going to be a tough and bumpy road. There is just so much talent this year in the 2A. I dont think you can sleep on anyone in Top 10 and there are a few a little lower that will play a part in some upsets. Going to be a interesting playoff run!

In 2011, I think 2A was stronger. Back then Gretna, Goochland, Giles, Riverheads, Amelia and Wilson Memorial all had teams that could have made it to Salem in December. Plus maybe a couple others.

I agree with you HR6.That year was an any given day type playoffs where one play could have propelled a number of teams over the top.

Appomattox, Buckingham, and King William were also loaded in 2011.
Them teams were deep as well! You forgot to mention Gretna?!!! They won state that year and Appomattox beat them in regular season. That is when Josh Wilson was QB, he had SPEED!!! He claimed to run a 4.38/40 (unofficial). Only team to beat Appo that year was Buckingham in first game of season. Then we lost in playoffs to W.M. That game went down to a last 20 yard slightly overthrown ball to the endzone. That game could have ended either way. Central VA was deep that year!

Wilson Memorial jumped out to a huge lead that game if I remember right. Missed that game due to work. Then Appomattox rallied. We did the same to Dan River the following week. Jumped out to a big lead, before Trey Edmunds brought them roaring back in the 4th

That is exactly what happened that game. That game was GOOD!!! I cant believe how strong the Raiders D was vs. Trey Edmunds that year. I dont think he broke 60 yards in that game when they played them during the season. I would have to do research, I just remembering how well that Raider D did vs. Trey. he was stuffed at line of scrimmage several times.

Our defense shut him down most of the game as well. Until about 7 minutes to go in the game. Then he began to just run all over us almost leading them to a comeback win

But in 2012 Gretna rolled into Independence and Grayson County rolled them. Then got beat by Dan River behind the running back Trey Edmonds the next week.

Trey Edmunds didn't play high school football in 2012. That's was 2011.
Wilson Memorial beat Dan River before losing to Goochland in the semis.

I wouldn't say Grayson "rolled Gretna". If I recall correctly, Gretna just played poor pass defense. But I do recall the Grayson QB was a really good player.
