Has anyone ever typed a message to post and then decided to delete it?

I just wasted five minutes wanting to address the wide receiver group but decided against it. Couldn't describe my frustration objectively. As an editor at heart I scrapped it.
I do it quite often for the one of the following reasons...............
  • I realize my opinion had already been articulated by others. No sense in beating a dead horse.
  • I type then realize the topic up for discussion is kind of pointless.
  • I type to reply then realize I'm following a discussion into a rabbit hole which is far afield from the original topic.
  • I type to respond to another poster then realize that poster is a bit on, shall we say, the simple side. No sense in being sucked into that.
I'm sure there may be others but those are the most common, at least for me.

I rage type A LOT in response to some of the things said around here, but in the time it takes to type a response I realize nothing I type will change anyone’s mind around here. Call it a decade of experience dealing with some of the people that post here. So I just delete it.

I’ve done that many times. I sometimes back off and delete because I know the discussion will likely escalate and decide it isn’t worth my time. I never regret deleting anything.

Except for this post, I do so more frequently as I age.

When typing but Fonzie comes in and gives me that ā€œI have to peeā€ look, I understand what that means re: my commentary.

Maybe you could present a ā€œhow-toā€ seminar on this, Mr. Potter :)

Not this exact thing but there is a small subset of posters who I don’t respond to because I don’t want to be exposed to the stupidity/aggravation that I know would be forthcoming. Fairly small subset.

"Has anyone ever typed a message to post and then decided to delete it?" No, but I should have deleted most of my posts. 🤔

I write then decide to delete before posting often. Most recently I was writing a post of great praise of Franklin in the Notre Dame game. How he overcame adversity and going to pound the ball downfield to win. Then when Allar threw that last pick, I deleted it.

it was your optimism that caused that game to be lost. šŸ˜‰
