Has Towns become the best player in the country?

I think so, but obviously I'm a bit biased. I don't see how anyone could deny he is at least a top 5 player in CBB though, even a lolville fan has to recognize that.

1. Towns
2. Okafor
3. Frank
4. Russell
5. Grant

He is undoubtedly the best overall player in the country. He has become a force on both ends of the floor. On top of that he brings it every play!!

He is definitely becoming a "Go To" guy for UK. Even as talented as this team is, this team needs that player. If he continues to play in this manner, it will help the others on the floor. Could be really, really special this time of the season.

Absolutely. It's comical that his name is never mentioned with Kaminsky /Okafor. I may be biased but I would take Karl over either of them.

Unfortunately playing like 10+ less minutes a game (just a guess) keeps his stats from being player of the year caliber. His per 40 minutes played numbers are up there though.

For me, Okafor is probably 3rd.

I like Towns all-around game (defensive/offense) the best. If I had to add either Okafor or Kaminsky in place of Towns for UK, I think I'd take Kaminsky.

For college in general, I think I'd still take Kaminsky over Okafor...barely.
Neither are great defenders, but I like Kaminsky's versatility/ability to shoot from the perimeter. I haven't watched Okafor enough to know how he passes, but Kaminsky is a good passer, too.

I can't imagine an NBA team not taking Towns 1st. The potential is tremendous. 2 years in the league and people will be talking about him as a top 5 player in the league like Anthony Davis.

What's funny is that a month ago when KAT was struggling, Cal was saying things like "I want him to be the best big man in the country" and I thought it was typical Cal hyperbole. I think it was Bilas who repeated the quote in a game, and you could tell he though Cal was nuts at the time.

A month later and damn if he isn't right.

I remember AD following a similar tangent. Just showed flashes early - then came into his own by the UNC game. These idiots that say Cal has nothing to do with these guys developing are full of it. He's been a master at developing the game and confidence of certain guys.

No doubt that Towns is the best out there. I'd take his ability to score inside and defend all day long.

I think he may be the best player before all is said & done. He looks like a completely different player from the one at the start of the season, and seems to grow better by the game. You can't watch his evolution, and make the claim that Cal doesn't develop his players for the next level. (That's for you UL Lurkers)
