After they were grown? I have a 4 year old mastiff named Max and I am contemplating changing his name. Advice? Name suggestions?

I've done it a million times*.

We do rescue. When we foster a dog, we give it a new name - to go with its new lease on life. They catch on.

Lol lil gay boi Queef. 93 is right. 90% of dogs turn gay when you change their name. 110% turn homo when named Queef.

We found/rescued one this fall. I refused to let the family name it since I swore we were not keeping it. We called it puppy. Puppy just got her shots and fixed last week...f'in Puppy.

Why not? Max is boring. It is short for Maximus, however. That's his registered name.

Kind of ****** to change a dogs name, the equivalent to teaching a human quantum physics, just because you messed up and picked a boring name 4 years ago. No offense, honestly. And if it was a rescue dog where you had no choice, I understand the dilemma.

But it's not fair to the dog. Go with Maximus, that's pretty cool.

Should be easy to adopt a similar name like that. Our dog is Gracie and she's an absolute PITA. Half the time I call her "Grace" followed by "you little sh*t!", as I run after her down the road.

I think you have to ask yourself a few things here. One will you be happy with the name you rename him/her and the other will the doggy love it?

Or look at it this way. If you're not willing to delete your Kentucky Rivals account, and start from scratch, you probably shouldn't change your dogs name.. a name that isn't.. an internet forum handle.

Not cool dude, not at all. My mom changed my name when I was eight, for years I thought she was calling a little brother I never could see. I never adapted to my new name hence mom thought my hearing had failed so I ended up with these giant hearing aids hanging off my ears when I started junior high, others kids thought I was retarded with those big match box size hearing aids. Kids made fun of me so I fought so many times I got expelled. I was driving a car before I finally passed sixth grade. And for what? Because my name was changed, I still to this day have no idea who I really am. I have been diagnosed with PNCD ( post name changed disorder) and have been on disability for years, life is ruined so again NO it's not cool to change names, but if you do I recommend "Felch". Come Felch has a ring to it as well as Fetch Felch..

We have a Mastiff / Rhodesian Ridgeback we took in at 7 months old. His name is Trigger, but my wife refuses to call him Trigger. She calls him Poppie (I do not have a touching clue why). Picked him up at the vet after getting a bath, nails cut and ears cleaned. I told the girl I was there to pick up Trigger. She looks for 5 minutes, finally finds his bill. It was listed under Poppie / Trigger. I told her, "my wife is a idiot, she refuses to call him by his given name." Pays bill and walked to my car embarrassed at what just transpired.

Well if she called him Papi I may be concerned, but for now, I think I am safe as Poppie is what she calls him. He does have a pretty big member, so I will keep a watch out for odd behavior from him. Seems like you speak from a position of knowledge, if you need support, I am here for you internet friend. What kind of dog do you have ? For your manhood's sake, I hope something like a Great Dane or something. Be kind of embarrassing for you if it is a Cocker Spaniel or something.

We got a Doberman from a rescue group when he was one year old, his name was Patton. We changed his name to Henry Earl. I always wanted a dog named Henry Earl. Since he was still young, it was a pretty easy change and he didn't have a problem adapting. He associates a better life with Henry Earl than he does Patton anyway.
