From this morning's Pitt Post Gazette, their current rankings (after 2 games) of Class 6A schools in Greater Pittsburgh/SW Pennsylvania. If you follow the sport in that area of the world, you'll see programs whose names are pretty recognizable as traditional powers. And I believe the Pine Richland program currently has one of the top QB's in the country. Anyway......

WPIAL, City, PIAA rankings

WPIAL Class 6A

1. Central Catholic 1-1

2. Pine-Richland 1-1

3. Mt. Lebanon 1-1

4. North Allegheny 1-1

5. Bethel Park 0-1

Is it just me, or is it kind of hard to believe that......after only two games......none of the top 5 programs are undefeated (and have a combined record of 4-5) ?? Now, I realize how this kind of thing happens; these kinds of teams often play early intersectional games, and will come across superior opponents in and around Labor Day. Things will get back to normal when typical sectional play gets underway; possible already. And perhaps most of these teams will finish the regular season with that single loss.

But still, I wonder if there's a similar look right now to these kinds of rankings......among good programs.....anywhere else in the country (or the universe) ???

Unusual.

Have you ever seen a team's top 3 QBs each be responsible for one of a team's 3 total turnovers in a game?

Bethel Park lost to North Allegheny and Mount Lebanon lost to Pine Richland. The other three lost out of state games to pretty good football teams (according to Max Preps).

I realize the teams themselves can't control how the schedules fall; still, I'm really surprised BP, Lebo, NA, and PR had ANY match-ups within themselves THIS early in the season.
