After the debacle at Penn State this year, has it made it difficult to be interested in other CFB games?
First, the enthusiasm for this season has left. With that, it's really about other teams, especially local high schools. Great nephew plays for Belle Vernon so that generates some enthusiasm. Losses and NIL stories make driving 3.5 hours to and from each game harder and harder. I'm down on whether we can make a sub-standard bowl this year or not. Not really looking forward to any plusses on signing day so next year or 2 are already in the dump.

South Allegheny 9-0 first time ever.

Why would you be embarrassed? You’re not actually involved with or a part of the team. This year sucks, sure. But I’m not embarrassed by a football team I root for just because they lost too many games and I don’t think you should be either.
I said it felt a little embarrassing for me. Whether you feel embarrassed does not change how I feel.

^ Holy Sheetz, you hit right on the head. I have never figured out why people say, this loss, this team, yada yada is embarrassing. We fans didn’t lose, we didn’t miss tackles, we didn’t make boneheaded decisions/ mistakes, outcomes of a game really don’t impact our lives.

I have never been embarrassed by the performance of one of my sports teams, even if they **** the bed.
There are performances that I have thought were embarrassing to players/coaches/teams. This season should be pretty embarrassing to Franklin. But I’ve never felt the embarrassment personally.

Terrible reply. Completely off-subject. The topic was your interest THIS YEAR and whether it has waned because of PSU's struggles. Instead, that guy self-indulgently waxed on about how he lost interest years ago ... this is something he's repeated ad nauseum. He takes announced "long breaks" from posting when things are going well ... he only shows up to post when there are struggles. For some reason, he's so unfulfilled by his current life that he not only still monitors the thing he professes to not care about, but finds it prudent to wallow in any struggles/failures the program has. If the guy's life was fulfilled with his "new" interests, he would just move on ... he wouldn't be on here enjoying any struggles and looking for affirmation for his alleged abandonment of interest in this activity. He'd just be happily living his life and enjoying what he was doing.

Lol. Frustration, absolutely. Embarrassment, no. It’s beyond ridiculous for you to actually get embarrassed by the result of a sporting event. Clearly you don’t comprehend this.
I didn't say I was embarrassed but I comprehend why others would say that. It's not difficult to follow even if you disagree

I am a Penn State football fan, as opposed to a general college football fan (although I once was).

Therefore, I am definitely less interested overall when PSU struggles.

...still root against teams such as Notre Dame and Michigan though, but don't seek out any games to watch.

My interest has been dropping since the introduction of NIL and the portal. Up until about 3/4 years ago, if there was a college football game on I would watch it. Penn State's season has not helped much but I can't say I have watched more that a few PSU games in their entirety over the last two years. I think my kids worry about me because I always made a big deal about watching football on Saturdays. And we would go all out during the Penn State game. Now they are more likely to see me blowing leaves on Saturday than watching football. It has become Meh.

My wife has been stunned by my ability to walk away from it this season. As have I, really. But it has been nice to have Saturdays to do things on a nice day instead of sit in front of the TV for 4 hours, bitching and moaning. Then again, I kind of miss wasting a beautiful Fall afternoon locked in on a TV, bitching and moaning for 4 hours. I’m a man of contradictions!!!

My interest waned with NIL and the portal, just like free agency destroyed my interest in professional sports. Personnel changes from year to year, so its difficult for me connect with the product on the field. Logos do not inspire. I will randomly watch the last quarter of marquee match ups but even these will not incline me to give up something else to do so.

Just for 4 hours? I think my wife would be drastically concerned about me if I watched less than 10 hours lol

With Penn State having an embarrassing season and this week YouTube TV losing a ton of games, it has resulted in me losing interest in watching much cfb. Still watch Sunday football, though.

Same here. It's not college football anymore. I don't know what to call it. But I still pay some attention because I have a lot of friends and relatives who are Penn State or college football fans. They follow it and expect me to follow it so I do for the social aspect. I want to talk about it or watch a game and have some idea what is going on.

It’s called minor league professional football with unfettered free agency.
