Hey Ram 60 that sounds great!! I will post up here tomorrow on this thread where to meet. I know my friend Bud up here and his son who plays for South Central are driving in from Farmville to watch the game. Yeah I was going to that game but I got delayed at my shop. A customer was running behind picking their car up and it caused me to miss out. I love meeting other posters up here and I've formed good friendships with a few WRH posters,Bud from South Central,Otis from West Craven, and FlyFalconFly from Bertie. I tried to friend the SWO fans but they weren't having it lol. That's a sour bunch over there, except for SWO#1, I love him.

SWO vs EVERBODY!!!!. We had to fight for our respect for so many years we became suspect of anyone. lol. NE got the last victory on SWO, and until we return the favor that you returned to us we can't be friends!

The Eagles have a goodern against Havelock. If by some chance you dont win might get interesting come seeding time. I think SWO will have 2 loses. Maybe Clinton also. WRH will more than likley have 3. It will be a BIG game in the ECC between Clinton and WRH.

NE should start making plans for a trip to the Corral this year .... :D Beat Havelock and you will have a lock on home field thru Eastern Div Finals. Just in case SWO will have the buses warmed up.

Has SWO gotten any better since the scrimmage with Havelock? Just asking, haven't really been paying attn to what they have going on.

I'm actually hoping we lose for the reason you posted above. I want NE to go on the road and play the teams down south on their home fields. I'm tired of having home field advantage every yr in the playoffs to.be honest. A win coming on the road at WRH,SWO,or Clinton would do much more for us.

After the first two loses to Jacksonville and WRH coach hit on a good combo of runnin backs. In the first game with Jacksonville both our lines handled the Cards real well. We just dropped it 8 times .....lol. WRH just plain out played us He also moved the O line some. Our QB is throwin pretty good but we are still a running team. The Defense has started real well and getting better. Our main back now is Pagen with Foster. Also on the bench we have 4-5 other backs who have gotten some good playing time last three wins. Foster along with playing running back is a real fine reciever. I look for the starters to sit out most of the second half this Friday night and probably the rest of the conference games, with maybe the exception of our last game with Richlands.

Why would Dempsey sit out starters in second half

Well you know I trust what you say and if you say theyre good then I know that to be true. I forgot West Craven playes them already.Otis we will meet up soon

Havelock fans are good people. I've never been to a Havelock game and encountered anyone I couldn't stand and talk with. A lot are military connected and they are just respectable people. You only see one or 2 on here that talk crap and I think it's the same guy. Never saw that until the Jim Bob years and those were hard years to deal with because of his drama. An example was our daughter playing volleyball at West Craven when she was in high school. We did travel ball and had Havelock and New Bern girls on the same travel ball team. Great people and are still great friends. We have partied in their homes at Christmas. During Jim Bob's reign Havelock came to play volleyball to play West Craven and I approached a Havelock player to hug her and say hi. She turned and avoided me and my wife and it was obvious. Later my daughter came out for warmups and she came to us and said the girl saw her in the hall and ran to her quickly and hugged her and said I can't be seen talking to you or anyone from West Craven. They had been told that by their coaching staff and would be in trouble. She asked my daughter to come explain to us. So I went and let at her parents know what the staff was doing. We all sat together because of it. That was what it was like then. Caleb King went out of his way to return it to what it was like in previous years. You can have class and win too. Caleb showed that. Wilbur Sasser always did. But you didn't bother Wilbur until the game was over. He and Clay both were intense before the game but loved each other afterwards. But this is the way the Havelock people are. What you saw with SWO ( and I was there with you) you will not see Friday night. You should get Ram60 to meet you for supper before the game if he can make it. There are not a lot of Ram fans that post on here. With their winning tradition you would expect more but they will carry on with you at the game and all you like to do is meet visiting fans and talk friendly smack during the game like I do. It's all good. More should do it. The Wallace Rose guys on here are becoming like family to me. I love going to games with them and eating out and sitting with them. More should do this.

Easy252 if you go you should look for Goob. You'll like him. Just don't let him talk you into shooting pool after the game. Elizabeth City is famous for its pool sharks. Luther Lassiter 6 time world champion was from there. He died many years ago. Greatest 9 ball player of all time in my book. I got a chance to play him one time in the 70's and he wore my *** out!! He offered a signed book of his to anyone that beat him. I assumed he would let me win one and get a book. He wore my *** out like he thought I was Minnesota Fats or something. It was embarrassing with all the guys watching.

or a loss could mean a mighty long ride back

That would be true but considering were going to win it all this year and next year we won't have to worry about that. Now in 2021 I have no clue, our qb and rb will be gone. Yeah I talked with the coaches just to confirm what I've been saying. They said to let everyone up here know that Northeastern will win the 2a state championship in 2019 and 2020.

well I’m pulling for 2A, honestly the past 2 years I believe Tarboro could win any of the 1A,2A,or 3A state championships, but as I heard Mike Leach say in a 2009 YouTube video at Texas Tech locker room tirade, “That’s Last Year” I think Northeastern will prevail in this closely contested matchup.

Earl Strickland played in our big pro event here in Eliz City last October. In my opinion he's the greatest to ever play the game

I have heard of him/ seen him on tv. I wonder if he ever got to play Luther? In Luther Lassiters time he was the king of 9 ball. I wanted one of his books autographed. It pissed me off that he played me like it was a pro tourney. I think I only got 1 shot in 3 games.

I don't think either team will win by that much. I think it will be close and I think both fanbases will get their money's worth!!
Actually I agree with you. I was just messing around when I put that score up there. I do think Northeastern will win though, somewhere around 10 points

Otis has me worried. If we couldn't stop Stanley I don't see us having much chance against Kamaro. Could be in for a long night but I'm sticking with my prediction.

It's been a long time since NE has lost back to back games. They can win this game but it's going to take them doing a few things they have struggled with all season. Stopping the run and creating turnovers. NE has the offense to get into a shootout with Havelock if they have too. That should be the last resort in my opinion. I also dont think Havelock is going to be willing to do that when they have the advantage in the run game. Staying disciplined on dline, playing your gap and do not over pursue will be a major key to somehow contain Kammaro. He is a player that will make you pay if you dont stay disciplined playing your gap. He can move from sideline to sideline in a blink and if you get a chance to wrap him up you better do just that. Havelock likes to throw to him when he lines up at WR mainly to the flat and on a dig route across the middle of the field. NE linebackers and safeties will need to be fast to snuff out those plays. On offense NE will need to be balanced. I think NE can be successful running the ball on draws and traps against Havelock. They have to much speed on the outside in my opinion to find much ground out there. When it comes to passing it would be wise to target the middle as well. Havelock has some very good CB's. Proctor should look, but dont touch,on the sidelines and come back to a progression in the middle of the field where I think he can find a cushion to throw to Hodge without the LBs and safety for Havelock noticing him.
This is a tall order coming off a loss for NE. Havelock is coming off a bye and I'm predicting Havelock will have to wipe off some cobwebs being October and all. I think we can all agree this has been a long week in the NC high school football world lol. I'm going with trends here and taking NE 35-26. I know Havelock is a great team and they have everything on their side but I dont see this team under coach Moore losing 2 in a row. I like my crow deep fried like a gizzard btw. Lol

Bud,
Watch out for the younger running back also, Jaylen Budget, only a sophmore but runs hard and with a lot of heart. You coming to the meet and greet ?

I believe NE has a better run defense than you think. It’s just Hoggard’s offense at Edenton prevents your front line from being aggressive. I saw that for years at Richmond Co. If NE coach let’s his terrific d line loose they’ll be fine.

Ram60 you mentioned your son kicking in the 80's I do remember him. Did you move to Havelock from Florida? There was a kicker that moved to Havelock from Florida in the 80's that was in high school with Emmitt Smith. When he came to Havelock he was telling everyone about how good this rb in Florida was at his old school. Was that your son?

I agree tiger, NE has had some struggles but when the right adjustments have been made NE stops the run very well. As far as styles of offense go, I think NE has had to prepare for more different styles than anyone in the state.

Yes, my youngest son wont be there he has physical therapy then a home game to help the freshman and the sophmore that took his spots on offense and defense since his injury. This was a bye week at the beginning of the season but was changed. My oldest son will be with me, he covers JH Rose on the radio and has his own high school football show that he is taping as we speak. Rose is on a bye, So we are coming!
