I post now because I am having a "procedure" this Friday to have a tumor on my left lung removed. I HATE it when long time posters suddenly disappear, and we don't know anything about why. We all could count several on our fingers and toes. I've been in the background for a long time. Posting some, reading a lot. Came over with Tom when Phil sold and retired. Still doubt that Fish can run a 4.6. So, I have a solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura. Doc says it rare. Usually happens in older people. That's me. Good news, its cancerous only about 20% if the time. They don't think its cancerous. I've had 2 biopsies, and they still aren't sure. Bad news, its big.....4cm by 8cm. If things go well, I'll be home by Monday. Doc says depending, they might have to take a couple ribs out. If that happens there will be no yelling at the TV during Penn State games this season. WE ARE.

Wow, @MontereyLion, that's a sobering post. Best of luck with the surgery. I hope it goes well for you, and the surgeons do not need to remove anything other than the tumor.

I always am fearful of you in the annual BWI College Football Pick'Em. I expect that in a few weeks, you'll be entering excellent picks in the 2024 contest, and keeping me on my toes concerning my picks.

Again, best of luck, and please keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you on Friday, and in the days that follow until we get an update from you.

I’m so sorry to hear about your “life challenge” but I’m confident everything will be just fine because you’re one tough son of a gun. 👍👍

The only downside to missing a couple of ribs (if necessary) is that your chances of playing Linebacker at PSU might not be as certain as they were. 😎

we’ll be thinking of and praying for you.

Hang in there Monterey. We’ll all be storming the heavens and pulling for you. It wasn’t too long ago I ran into a med issue as well. While it’s sort of all consuming now, you’ll be surprised how quickly time passes. You’ll be back on the couch yelling at the TV in no time. ;)

Wishing you a successful surgery and speedy recovery. I spend most of my days in the O.R. in medical sales. I am sure you have an excellent medical team. Rest up and I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Thanks for all the well wishers. The operation will be at Stanford. My second favorite University. Though I know it will never happen, I always hold out hope that when Notre Dame enters the Bigten it will drag Stanford in with it. Then I can go watch all the great Bigten teams play.

Any more, I dislike operations since I have taken my pants down 19 times. Suggest you tell the nurses you are a bit older and all parts do not work the same as when you were younger. 6 times on my heart with 4 stents over 25 years - so if this is your first, no problem with anything.

You will do fine, count backwards from 10 and have a good sleep - take real good care in the coming days. Stanford campus is picturesque - too much red in the gift shop though. Oh well !

I’m sure you will be fine. My advice? Milk it for all you can.

Make sure the surgeon attended a school other than Pitt. My heart surgeons (Dewey, Killem and Howe) attended their medical school. Let’s say they could use some refresher courses.
