not seen any racial hatred. Houston is a huge diverse city.
The one and only group that Southerners universally hate are stupid liberal sissy men from the north.

I have lived throughout the South since early 60s broken by periods of return to WV

Louisiana in early 60s, racism was substantial by both colors

North Carolina in late 60s racism per se was unnoticeable, but the people were very clannish identified by school they attended. WVians not popular.

Florida in mid 70s no real problem since I only met two native to Fla

South Carolina currently and the people are extremely friendly and races are not noticeably disagreeable. What there is, is shown by young black males.

I only lived in one location within these states and do not suggest what I found was state-wide. Universally, I have found most of the time the races segregate themselves even with no requirement they do so a social functions.

Chicago was yet again riddled with a flurry of shootings this Fourth of July weekend, with at least 47 wounded and nine killed.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy expressed his frustration with the gun situation at a news conference Sunday. McCarthy pleaded for harsher sentencing in illegal gun possession cases.

Specifically, McCarthy cited the shooting death of seven-year-old Amari Brown, who was killed close to midnight on Saturday. Police believed Amari’s father was the intended target in the shooting, McCarthy said. Amari’s father has gang connections, the superintendent said, and his most recent in a long series of arrests was for gun possession in April.

“If Mr. Brown is in custody, his son is alive,” McCarthy said, arguing Brown should have faced a harsher penalty for the gun possession charge.

Baltimore’s murder rate is up 48 percent in 2015, the Baltimore Sun‘s Jessica Anderson reports Thursday, with 148 tallied homicides.

With four shooting victims dying over the weekend and into Monday morning, Milwaukee's ruthless pace of homicides continued unabated in the second quarter of the year.
As of Monday morning, 74 people have been killed in homicides — double the number of victims in the first six months of last year. The grim tally also is nearly double the number of victims in the first half of each of the preceding four years.

Through June 7, Detroit police have recorded 115 homicides.

Obama has done splendid with race relations. Just look at the results.

Schmoozing with Al Sharpton has done wonders as well.

LMAO! Yep, it's all Obama's fault. That evil bastard; look what he did to Greece. And all these tornadoes and flooding; damn him.
Do you think he has done a good job with race relations? Bridging the gap? I mean, "There are no red states and there are no blue states, there is only the United States"

How do you think he will go down historically, 10, 20 or 50 years from now, as far as race relations go?

I think he'll go down as having accomplished little in that regard other than getting elected.

I think there are a lot of Americans that will hate him regardless of what he does. I think there are a lot of Americans that hate him because he is black and I think there are a lot of Americans that hate him because he has a D with his political party affiliation.

Race relations in this country is a mixed bag; some things show some improvement and some things show we are still stuck in 1963.

As opposed to who? Bush Jr? Clinton? Bush Sr? Reagan ?

Not really a relevant comparison. None of those 4 come from a white mother and black father. None of those 4 were elected under the guise of hope and change.

Unfortunately, since he became President, race relations and discussion hasn't progressed much at all. IMHO he blew the opportunity to bring about real discussion and change and instead pandered to parties.

Yeah, so the POTUSs of the majority group bear less of the burden of improving relations than does the POTUS of the minority group. That makes perfect sense. After all, the majority of the people are much more likely to be persuaded by the minority POTUS than by the majority POTUS. (That's sarcasm BTW.)

I don't put the blame on Obama for the unacceptable slaughter of African Americans we see in many urban areas around this country. I do think it is fair to point out that all the cities I posted murder stats on are and have been controlled by Democrats. All those cities also have supposedly very strict gun laws. Some people just accept what is happening. They are quick to scream "injustice" but apparently are blind to the far greater slaughter going on. Those same people don't seem to respond to the many posts I have made in regard to this subject.
