Would you want to be the smartest man in the world if you were trapped in a useless body?

Lol at the people that think he's anything but a vegetable in a wheelchair. Who knows who is really "speaking" for him these days, he's a great propaganda mouthpiece after all.

People say prostitution is the world's oldest professional. I think "doomsday predicting" has got to be a close second.

Why aren't you a mod anymore, and what's with the newish handle, what did I miss.
When we lost to Wisconsin and the format change happened, I went off the grid for 6 months, I couldn't retrieve the password for Blind Karl Hess, Rowland couldn't either, and I didn't care enough to take it any further than that.

Yeah, I can see that.

I might take him serious if we hadn't already survived several other predictions of the same type. People love to predict the end of the world.

Can we just send the wingnuts on both sides in the U.S. + those crazy bastards in the Middle East + those zany African terrorist/pirates + that little handicapped boy running North Korea to find the new planet while the rest us sane people live here?

I think if we removed the crazy sects from the globe the rest of us would live just fine. Unless the planet burns up or some crazy despot in a **** country starts a nuclear dick-waving contest with a world super power first.

Last I heard he was worried about aliens coming and enslaving us. Hawking needs to focus on theoretical physics and cosmology. Humans will f*** things up no matter which planet we're on.

You could say in any time since the nuclear bomb was invinted that humanity will be dead in a hundred years and have a shot at it.

They also say that miami will be flooded in 20 years. Well, tides better start rising soon. The last I read from FREAKING NASA was that the Antarctic ice shelf was growing despite reports AND a Swiss or Norwegian study had found the same.

I'm all for cutting down on emissions and recycling but but I don't think it helps the world if only we do it. In that scenario, we lose money, become less powerful and other nations that are awful have more money.

I'm a little bit disappointed. I'm actually so sick of the "I'm a liberal and I hate all conservatives" and "I'm a conservative and I hate all liberals" crap in this world that I was really hoping the end of humanity on earth would be over before I die. Can we try to get the end of humanity over in the next 20 years please? Thanks

I've always felt like farming was probably older than prostitution. That saying never made sense to me. People grew crops, traded them for other tools and THEN prostitution came along.

According to this link, the Antarctic sea ice is or was growing while the arctic sea ice is losing at a rapid rate. The rate at which the Antarctic ice is growing is "only about a third of the magnitude of the rapid loss of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean."

Really? Farming? Hunter and gathers were trading p*** long before they were farming

Ok, well, then hunting and gathering was first.
Prolly not. Even if we go back before that. When people were just sitting around bored. Trading p**** was still happening before that. What's your beef with prostitution anyway? prostitution is a good thing

No beef. Just being very technical I guess. But I'm sure prostitution wasn't first. If you think about it, something would have had to be created in order for someone to say "hey, I want that and I'll have sex with you for it." Whatever that is that was created was probably something of use and made for something else. Besides, back in the cave men days, I doubt many men asked to have sex with a woman. It was probably some sort of ritual and whatever man won got the female. I'm sure when people could speak and form villages prostitution wasn't far behind. Whatever.

When I read this doomsday stuff (and the political thread) it feels pretty good to be 73 years old with my off ramp coming up fast.
