Anyone catch the reason for Hawkins absence from the Bama game???
I tried to turn the volume up and hit the power instead and missed it....

I hope not..I missed it . DVR was ahead of story and I missed the entire story. I really like that guy. Hope he does great. Genuine, intelligent, and hard-nosed are always a welcome ingredient.

Hmm. I'd call that not good news on the eve of what looks to be a tough SEC road game. Putting him in the LU sure seemed to work pretty well against Mizou.

He is having a minor procedure done. Not sure of the details of the procedure though

I hope he is able to play. He gives us a different look when he is in the lineup. It allows Andrew to play off the ball on defense more often, which is to his advantage. Our Blue Platoon is just so much better defensively with Dominique in there and this makes the White Platoon that much stronger with Trey back in that group.

Ordinarily I would say that this gives Derek Willis an opportunity but his defense is nowhere near as good as what we get with Hawkins. He is dangerous offensively though.

I hope we still platoon because if we dont, we may lose. I hated how we looked the 2 games we went away from it. Bama is a very tough place to play anyways.

Michael, I know Calipari really emphasized the platoons as a key to the Missouri game, but I really believe it's all about the defense with this UK team. If they come out playing steing defensively, I don't think it matters if they're playing 10 guys or 9 guys.

And by the way, even if Hawkins can't go, Willis could still be the tenth guy for the platoons to be in effect. Willis is a much stronger perimeter threat than Hawkins and I think he'd be fine in that first group if needed. Or Calipari could let him come in at the 3 in the white platoon and move Lyles back to the starting group.

But again, I think it's defense that matters most. That's what was missing in those first 2 conference games.

I would say this is an opportunity for Willis to get some PT but Cal doesn't seem to trust Derek at all at this point. He'll probably just go back to the 9 man rotation.
